Appointing John Reilly as CEO was the best decision this company could’ve made. You can just feel the 180 degree shift in their approach. Love it.
I agree. Enhanced theming everywhere, themed concrete, holidays, huge investments, offloading so that they can focus on making their core parks actual destination parks. Much as the EnParks sales have hurt a bit, I appreciate them choosing to do that. And again honestly just the THEMING EVERYWHERE!!! That's not something that six flags did... at all... almost ever in history

Below is the official press release for this morning’s announcement.
It’s announcements like these that give me alot of hope for the future more than anything else believe it or not.

HITP is a really special event that a lot of people enjoy, and the fact that they’ve made it a priority to bring it back here goes to show how much they’re bought into the park and it’s future.

Just a huge win all across the board with this news, so glad HITP is back!

Ik this is like the world's greatest nitpick grasp detail of all time but I wonder if they werent planning on opening rmt to begin with (which would be plausible enough) or if they are basically saying that for redundancy (aka "dont ask its not reopening for the winter lol").
Maybe they just decided to keep nitro out of the press for pr reasons or whatever (or that they never stated a reason for rmt so its not REALLY implied unless you've been to the park recently, unlike nitro, so its not REALLY a redundancy or smth) and this means jack but if the rmt thing IS a redundancy and nitro is done for the rest of the season then you would think they would also be like "we dont forecast nitro being open for hitp either heads up dont ask" for redundancy or smth. Idk. Spitballing here lol
Figure it either says smth abt nitro or at least how they're choosing to acknowledge (or lack thereof) the hypers/clamshells rn.

Medusa not being listed as a closure? It's interesting that RMT was mentioned but not that. Nothing else in the vicinity will be operating.

Oversight? Small chance they keep it in play if they're not expecting to get the green light for Nitro? That's an awful lot of pathing to open up for a single ride.

Very happy to see a mainstage show at showcase theater! This was always a highlight of the event to warm up inside and enjoy a big show! I am looking forward to this event looks promising even have a silent disco!
I wonder if Frost (the cirque show) would come back in some form as well, unless Holiday Road: LIVE on Tour! is a reimagined version of the show.

If you want WinterFest to come back to KD, everyone and their mother should storm the gates of SFGAdv this Christmas. In my eyes, this is definitely a test to see if it should be expanded to more parks in 2027.

I’m hopeful that Six Flags Over Georgia will be able to rebound from the recent accident and have a successful HITP event, too.

Look i miss Winterfest as much as the next person but Yea nah im not traveling 5+hrs to go look at xmas lights lol I feel like winterfest and xmas stuff is more built for the local intrest. It's cold and half the time coasters arn't even open. Theres no reason to ever travel like that to look at xmas lights

Super valid! I hope the locals really turn out like crazy. I’m sure some people will still use their regional pass tho (myself maybe included… not sure yet).

I'm of the mind this is more for locals. Come out, let us upsell you to a higher season pass... take a look at our new-for-2027 coaster, come see the Boardwalk area dressed up for the holidays, enjoy some entertainment (that's been a priority lately at the park), and here are some coasters that run as a bonus if the weather is mild. That's not a bad idea, but I wouldn't substitute it for a Summer visit when all (or most) of the rides are going to be open.

If it's anything like Hershey's Candylane event, they will close rides even if the temps allow them to run for "low staffing" and not really apologize for it.

They absolutely will selectively run stuff based on that day's attendance, but GAdv has been exceptionally good about running their coasters as cold as they possibly can during the Holiday events. A few years back I did a 5k at the park and they had all the B&Ms running in 20 degree weather, which is cold enough I couldn't marathon Nitro because my face was stinging.
