At what point in the park’s history did it become "smoke-free"?https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-BU...323071?hash=item23b19711bf:g:wBkAAOSwXI1cE7Ew
Its not, there are smoking areas.

From the parks FAQ page.

Smoking and vaping are only permitted in specific outdoor smoking locations throughout the park. Smoking Stations are designated in guest areas by smoking urns, benches and "designated Smoking Area" signs.

All indoor areas will remain smoke-free environments.

Please see our park maps for designated smoking area locations.

But you know what...I would be happy to have those exact same things sold todoy over some of the crap merch they have with boring logos. I know nothing of the chicken toothpick holder but it imediately reminded me of the chicken place by the LeMans cars.

To be fair, there's still enough specialty shops and specialty merch around the park to make shopping worthwhile. The Florida parks only have logo merchandise and toys

It could be that I just dont like the type of merch that BGW has, the cheap resin figures, cheap flat picture frames with things glued on them and stuff like that just does not interest me. Im also a person that likes simple logos and BGW likes busy logos with so much on them tham you have to study what it all is. Last season at BGW I bought 1 thing, a christmas ornamnet, at KD I can name 7 souvineers I purchased two or which were at WF. HP we picked up a few items as well.

Well that's general theme park merchandise in a nutshell and like I said BGW still has enough specialty merchandise around the park to make up for the generic stuff sold in the main gift shops. It could be like the Florida parks with no specialty anything.

- And I don't really recall KD having any stand out merch last time I was there. I do remember the lack of pins though :(

So i went to passholder day today and saw all the money they are spending on FF, the Delorians (first time I've seen them and am a fan), a DJ in Ireland, new paint job on roller coaster, etc, etc. I went to the shop in ireland on my way out to get a jar of mustard with irish wiskey and was told there was ten cent charge for the little bag to carry it out. I did get my 30% discount for buying the yearlong discount. (0.03). REALLY !!!!!!!!!!!View attachment Scan.pdf

Are you kidding? What did the bag look like? I did see some bags in the emporium that reminded me of the bags Disney is doing now and I thought to myself "wonder how long before it happens here"....but had no idea it was.

same regular brown bags with the busch gardens logo they have had for the 6-7 years ive had a pass

Yeah it seems like a program that barely impacts the consumer, but after a season's worth of sales gets a solid amount of revenue for the park.

I was told today that every bag purchase is a direct donation to the conservation. If you have been to any of the other SEAS parks they do the same thing. The main idea is to encourage people to use less bags or to use a reusable bag. Personally I don't have an issue with a 10¢ charge for a bag.

Would be nice if they offered them at most shops. I guess they want people bringing the Aldi bags from home? If I go to a grocery store to buy stuff then I can plan and bring my own bags but when I leave my house to go to Busch Gardens the last thing I am thinking is "oh let me get a shopping bag in case I happen to see something I want today". They are not so worried about the enviroment when they are lining the trash cans with 55 gallon plastic liners? Or how about all those ponchos that go in the trash at the end of a day at the park.

Okay here's the thing. I get some of y'all are upset that they're charging you for bags. But as I have said twice now and BGWnut has also said: This isn't all that new. Other SEAS parks have been doing this. It goes to the conservation fund.

You're more likely to spend more money on buying one of their reuseable bags, and then forgetting it at home your next trip and needing it again, than if you just paid the 10 cents. Even more so, you get one bag and just put all the other purchases in that bag. Or just put it in your personal bag if you carry one with you.

It's really not that big of a deal. Besides that you get to help animals out.

I like the idea of doing something to help the environment or to contribute to animal conservation or whatever it is, but I think the problem is they're charging people for something that they used to get free. This is just going to upset people and turn them off on the cause, whatever it may be. The idea is to get more people on board with the cause, but I think this kind of thing pushes people away. Ask for donations or roll the costs over to merchandise prices like mentioned before, but I think giving guests the ultimatum of paying a dime extra or not having a bag is going to just end up turning people off, which is counterproductive to getting more people on board with the cause you're trying to push for.

I feel like if it hasn't already turned people off at other parks, it's prolly not gonna do anything here either. People can be upset, and they're valid for feeling that way. But I doubt they're gonna change the policy that's already been established at other parks, since they're trying to cover all the parks at once.

Also I know there are people out there who would rather be given the choice as to where their money goes rather than have it rolled into merchandise. So they'd rather be asked to donate for a bag than just upping the price of the thing their buying. Even if it's only the dime. Because let's face it if it was rolled into the price, the price would go up by 50 cents to a dollar, as they're not likely to raise the price of every item by a penny (as nice as it would be to have whole numbers and not the 99 cent crap), or the 10 cents it costs for the bag. Plus then you end up spending more money for it, than if they were to just get a single bag.
