What a difference a day makes. On Sunday all the Howl-o-scream stuff was marked 50% off. Sure Italy was closed, but it wasn't big deal. Le Catapult was open on Sunday. Some Christmastown merch was available in various shops, somewhat limited choices, but still available. Tents set up near the Smokehouse. Covered seating with lights. The 10% scratch-off tickets could be used multiple times and with membership discounts. Each member got two scratch-off tickets, some only good for the 6th and 7th, others good through December 17. Slapnation rocked out the Festhuas. Plenty of employees and everyone was in a good mood. Overall, Sunday was fantastic.I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one horseboy. In 46 years of going to BGW I would have to say today was the absolute worst I have ever seen. Italy was blocked off completely. Even though the handout at the gate said the catapult was open. No, it wasn't. You couldn't get to it. There was NO Christmas Town merchandise available. They had tons of HOS merchandise they were still trying to unload and it wasn't on sale. I think there were more attractions (Rides and other locations) closed than open. It is/was cold enough with a slight drizzle. Unless you wanted to eat the same old food at the Festhaus you could let your food get wet and cold as you tried to eat. As for the "special surprise" of a scratch off card. We had one for a free box of popcorn and another one for 10% off your food or beverage purchase. The 10% couldn't be used with a season pass/membership discount. It just flat didn't work. The cashiers tried but it wasn't programmed into the computers. I have never seen such a poorly organized excuse for a park opening ever. After all of my years at BGW I have to say my wife and I are seriously considering calling it quits. We were hoping for an experience to encourage us to continue on with our passes after all these years. If anything; today did just the opposite. IMHO they should have just continued to decorate for next week and stayed closed this weekend.
