Maypole

Okay, so I have never seen the Maypole show.  While I was really looking forward to seeing it this year, the loss of the show isn't a huge disappointment for me, although I really wish it were to stay to help tie the area together and add another German dancing show.

So, the fact that this show is no more is not what gets me.  What gets me is that this show cannot be that expensive to run.  Since the park already had everything ready to go, the only thing they really still needed to pay for was the performers' salaries.  While I'm sure the dancers make decent money, in the big picture that really could not have been very expensive.

What this means, in my eyes, is that this relatively little amount of money is enough to send them over the edge, which is terrible. This is what makes me sad.

Well maybe they could bring back the trees and start "Entwined LIVE!" where you would see the characters do the show in a actual forested area with trees and flowers. Inside the Festhaus they could have the Maypole as part of "This is Oktoberfest" where they would let the kids do it once and then the professionals do it. (Just Kidding!)

Actually, the last bit would be awesome!  Maypole with the kids involved would be cool as hell!

It sounds like a bad idea to involve children in something as intricate and graceful as that... they'd just fuck it all up.

If they can do the chicken dance I think they can run in circles with a piece of ribbon in there hand. Didn't you do the Chicken dance at the park Alpenghost?

I did do the chicken dance, on the old stage in fact... But that isn't as involved as some of the more complicated maypole dances.

A Maypole Dance isn't just running in a circle with a ribbon in your hand.  The purpose is to weave the ribbons in a specific and intricate pattern around the pole.  It requires precise movements among the dancers.

So the maypole will be there, but just vacant, correct?

If it's already up what's the point of not having the show perform?

I'm hoping, the most I could hope for anything, that Zachary's info. is wrong and the Maypole will still be performing. However, there's no hope there because Zachary is usually correct with these things.:'(

They can't afford the labor (dancers/techs/singers, etc).

Actually, I don't think the maypole is up. It was taken down for Illuminights, then came Howl-o-Scream, and Christmas Town. It probably wasn't put right back up after Christmas Town. 

Personally, I would just absolutely love it if they turned it back into a planter again. It was so beautiful and amazing.

I'm 90% sure the maypole is used in the center of the tree for Christmas Town. I know there IS a pole in the center used to run wires and such up the tree. I am assuming it's the same pole because I don't know why they would use a different pole when it is not attached to the tree.

Actually the pole for the Christmas tree is a different one. They store it on the side of DarKastle throughout the year. It is much skinner.

Since Zachary already confirmed the show will not be playing, guess what is going on in this spot? They are turning it back into a planter space! So more flowers, bushes, and butterflies. Yes that is right, the Illuminights butterflies that everyone loved in Giardino Magico are being repurposed as daily decor for this Okotberfest garden area.

I wouldn't say people 'loved' them in Giardino Magico, and I don't think they will love them in Oktoberfest either.

What?! What's the point of having the new planter that was always so pretty if they're going to stick a couple of neon butterflies in it? What the heck are they thinking?!

They're thinking 'outside of the cocoon'. (This does sound silly. What's wrong with just flowers?)

What is really bizarre is they still have a plain white pole sticking out in the middle. Not sure if they plan on removing it or including it somehow.
