Yea I didnt mean that in a way of tallest or fastest. But Busch is known for bringing in some of the first in context of unique designs and elements, esp with B&M. So it would be awesome to see that relationship grow more.

I'd like ejetor air, but intamin seems to be one of the few manufacturers who are ok with that so it probably won't happen.

Could we possibly see a T-Rex? I'm not sure what size they are made for but that would be a first i believe. I wouldn't mind seeing a B&M wing or Flyer either.

The San Marco part of Festa Italia is my favorite section of the park to walk through and I feel could be an amazing entrance to a new ride if Busch decides to add one.  As I know there are animal stables over this part of the land but I personally have no clue on how many if any animals are kept here especially after the Zoology downsize a couple years ago.  If a coaster was added this land would provide a large footprint to make a large attraction which isn't available in many other places in the park.  It's queue could start and come from the San Marco area and almost any type of ride could be placed here and terrain could make it interesting like it was used on Invadr because of its elevation change throughout the area.  Also this plot of land would give a coaster the ability to go over the Rhine river (and give Verbolten a friend) like 4 of the other 7 coasters do.

Here are some pictures I got from google earth which shows the land and San Marco where a possible entrance could be added.

I once thought that this would be a great area for an entrance to something like this, but with the addition of Marco Polo's Marketplace it isn't really feasible anymore. Also, the restroom building has been completely remodeled and the building extended from here, you can't make a pass-through there anymore without tearing down the new building. When they completed those renovations, one of the first thoughts I had was, "Well there goes that idea!"

On a side note...

Come on folks. I'm not trying to be mean, but we're all enthusiasts here! We should know how to spell queue. I don't mean to call you out specifically, but this is a huge pet peeve of mine and I see it ALL of the time on the forum. The word is QUEUE not Cue, or Que, or Q.

Sorry to derail the conversation, and again, nothing against you personally.

My bad I guess spelling and eating lunch at the same time isn't my strong suit especially in a rush, meant to say queue.

I was going to harvest some photos from the San Marco renovation thread, but I don't have access to Instagram at work, so a link to the San Marco renovations thread will have to do: http://parkfans.net/thread-4085.html

I don't want to sound nit-picky (especially at the start of a post) so forgive me, but San Marco and Festa are separate hamlets entirely. ;)

Festa Field is still used to house many Highland Stables residents when the park is closed (read: at night). Because the functionality of the field is still required, either zoo would need to remove the animals for which the area is necessary or relocate the remote pastures. I don't consider either of these options out of the question though.

This is definitely the best case for the use of Festa Field. It is a very large plot of largely cleared, pretty flat land with easy path access. No other location currently checks all of those boxes.

Here are some pictures I got from google earth which shows the land and San Marco where a possible entrance could be added.

I have been a long-time advocate of creating an "Italy Loop" in this area of the park—eventually connecting the San Marco restroom area to Festa Italia. That said, now that Marco Polo's Marketplace has been expanded out to fill that area, that is looking far less viable than it was previously. As far as I see it, this area of the park has four viable points of access, each with some obvious pros and cons.

Zeho0Rd.jpg

My current favorite option is to connect the area between Marco Polo and Da Vinci's Garden of Inventions (red arrow) to the railroad crossing near Roman Rapids (pink arrow). This option relies almost solely on existing clearing and service roads to make the loop. That said, the red path would almost certainly require an additional bridge to pass over a re-aligned service road connecting to the backstage area of Marco Polo and the Roman Rapids/Howl-O-Scream area (yellow dotted line). The pink path is pretty straightforward and could be guest-ready with only minor alterations required.

If making a loop is the game plan, this is my favorite option because the new Italy Loop would dump guests back at almost the same point—making it difficult for wayward guests to accidentally miss a chunk of the park.

Other options I can spot would be to path out from the end of the Oktoberfest/San Marco bridge (blue arrow) or bridge over Festa Station from the area around Turkish Delight (green arrow).

The major pro for the blue option is that it reduces guest flow in one of the narrowest areas of the park (village section of San Marco) which can get downright dangerous during special events. That said, this option has a number of cons. Namely...
  1. It requires a long path extension over some very difficult terrain (more bridges = more $$$)
  2. It allows many guests to bypass a major restaurant and numerous shops (lost profits?)
  3. It necessitates a lot of clearing (less trees = :()
The green option is perhaps the most interesting I came up with. With two small bridges largely utilizing existing terrain, you could cross the center of the Festa train station and the service road behind the berm with a straight path. Connect this two part bridge to a Griffon-like village on the other side and you probably don't need to make a loop at all. This option means zero service road disruption (huge plus), only very minor clearing, and only minor alterations to existing guest areas. Plus if the sight lines are done well, it could potentially look incredible. If a loop isn't the plan, this is my favorite single-path option.

Now that there are some lines of communication, has anyone reached out to the park asking for an official comment on this? While I doubt they will release anything specific, I'm curious how they would respond.

I reached out to the park via email and they said it was for fireworks. However, I don't know how well we can trust the statement. The million dollar question is if they use line of Sight height balloons for fireworks. Does anybody know the answer? Also, keepin mind there was a line of Sight test back in 2014 behind Festaus and nothing ever happened or it did not happen yet.

This could be true if they are planning to move the launch area from the train trestle to another location. If they are not, then I don't see where the need would be to do another test. I know there has been an issue with fallout over Festa and complaints about shutting down the railroad. Maybe the launch location is moving.

OK.

None of this Six Flags bashing has anything to do with a balloon test at BGW.  I, personally, don't think SFA is a terrible park, and in fact it has several charming aspects.  Regardless, can we get back on topic?
