Mäch Tower was a Moser's Rides Gravity Tower located in the Oktoberfest section of Busch Gardens Williamsburg.

Originally planned to debut in the spring alongside Beste Brezeln und Bier and numerous other alterations to the Oktoberfest hamlet, Mäch Tower faced months of delays throughout the first half of 2011. Ultimately, the attraction did not open to the public until August 18th, 2011.

Mach Tower was typically converted into an observation tower named Nächt Tower for the park's annual holiday event, Christmas Town.

On December 16, 2022 it was announced by the park that Mäch Tower would close on January 8th, 2023. The ride did not operate in it's typical Nächt Tower mode in 2022, in order to have final sendoffs in the normal drop tower mode.

When it debuted, Mäch Tower featured an onboard audio system which would play music throughout the ride's ascent and a seat vibration effect that would trigger immediately before the drop. A POV featuring the on-ride audio can be found below.

Two new updates have been added to the main-site post. The latest update includes an email from Moser themselves on what the hell is going on: http://bgwfans.com/mach-tower-is-now-closed/

Perhaps they wanted to notify the public after they knew they would be able to open up the rise soon, so as not to kill business too much.

I think y'all may be overreacting to this. To me, this simply looks like the Daily Press catching wind of Mach Tower's recent downtime, then contacting the park about it. The spokesperson most likely spoke in retroactive terms when discussing working with Moser and its downtime; the park wasn't just announcing that they had just begun work. Also, the meaning of indefinite means "lasting for an unknown length of time." With this definition, Mach Tower most certainly could have opened today.

When you use the word indefinite, it means you are clueless and if it just opened after they announced its closing, they obviously knew they were openning soon.

Given that a spokesperson is part of PR, there primary goal is to make everything sound peachy, therefore they give no estimates and will only say "soon." I guarantee you the Communications Department had no idea Mach Tower would open this afternoon, and once it did, released a statement stating so. It's purely coincidental that by the time the Daily Press contacted the park for the article, ride work was wrapping up.

Not really the PR department doesn't have to release any statement at any time. They made the decision to close the ride indefinitely and the PR department didn't bother to make a news release. Nothing is coincidental in business.

And remember they didn't say soon, they said indefinitely. Doesn't sound too peachy unless you open the ride up right after.

Actually Newsie has a point, a lot of companies address down time issues from around the time the ride originally had issues. Public Relations often aren't notified of anything until it happens, nothing before, after or in the middle. So they got stuck with the announcement from almost a month ago, and outside media asked at the tail end of Mach Tower's repairs.

Mach tower was down today all day. The was a ladder against it but nothing happening. The queue looked like an abandoned park with leaves everywhere haha

The park missed a golden opportunity by not going with Intamin.
