RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)
Alright, so here's the thing. I want the show to be good. I really do. I want to walk out of the theater doors totally amazed and happy altogether. I want to. I have wanted so much from the park. I always have high hopes, because I know how much the park is capable of.
I wanted Entwined to be a good show. I really did. I wanted to walk out of the Festhaus totally amazed and happy altogether. After all, clearly the entertainment department thought it was good enough to replace their legendary This is Oktoberfest show in their signature hamlet. I was excited to be seeing a full-out show going into the building. Then I watched the show. My excitement was ripped away. I suddenly realized that the park had trashed part of its heart and soul for a... a... whatever Entwined is. Then, they spent even more money on the show to "improve" it, only to make things worse. It makes my heart sink.
I wanted Illuminights to be a good event. I really did. I wanted to walk out of the park at night totally amazed and happy altogether. I had my heart set on seeing such a magical park becoming even more magical as it was lit up in celebration of the summertime. Not so. The same geniuses decided to throw what makes the park so special to the wind and fill it with gaudy, ridiculous props and themes. It broke the heart that had its hopes set so high.
This is only a tiny tidbit of things. Don't get me wrong, I still love the park. I visit at least 10 times a year, so I hope for the best. I want the place I love, the place I have always loved, to be the best it can be. I've been going to BGW for my whole life, since I was too young to even walk. I know things are going to change over time, but I expect the quality that made the park a special place to remain just as top-notch.
But that's not the case. Things have changed for the worse, not better. Entertainment is an incredibly crucial part of the park experience. I have had my hopes up, expected great things from the park for so many times.
And so many times I have been let down. Sometimes crushed. Sometimes appalled.
I still love the park. I really do. I always walk out of the gates and I am totally amazed and happy altogether. But every time I visit, something else has taken the wrong turn and has squandered my hopes. A little bit of the hope I have dies every time I visit. My hope has run low.
I just don't want to be let down once again.
