RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

Did everyone fail to notice I said adults as well and was talking about non-regulars?  I was making a broad generalization, not pointing out specific people.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

No we did, it's just we decided to talk about the kids part at the moment. And you can make broad generalizations all you want, that doesn't mean they are broadly true either. You can't put words in people's mouths who are totally different from you.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

Do not take anything personally.  I spoke about my observations, that is all.  When I said "Shiny" I was speaking of the retheme of Banbury, not the show.  A very large number of people today have short attention spans and if you want them to notice something, you make it bright and shiny.  Actually read the post before commenting on it. I also never put words in someone's mouth...I quoted nothing. You can't cherry pick a post to argue what you want to argue about. Take the post in full...

Actually, I was referring to your post specifically about kids I was not referring to the one where you talked about the "non-regulars." So yes I did read the post, just not the one you were thinking of.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

Cody: While I'm not willing to disclose my age at this time, I definitely fall into the age category you're referring to.  Yes, I'm a "regular," but none of my friends are. All of my friends visit the park once a year max.  Whenever they say they're going to BGW, I tell them to check out at least Celtic Fyre and Mix It Up.  Both shows are far from modern and popular music we listen to, but they still appreciate it.  Why would we want to waste our time and money seeing/hearing the same things we have on our phones?

Look, most kids aren't the mindless little mounds of poo-poo you're making them out to be.  We also appreciate the class the park has to offer.  If all kids were interested in were rides and pop music, then they would go to Kings Dominion. Even though it's nicer than it's been in years prior, it still doesn't have the charm or class BGW has.  That's why kids my age appreciate the park, because it's "nicer."

I guarantee you that every single one of my friends who have already heard/will hear of this show and the retheme coming with it would be astonished (in a bad way).

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

Very, very well said Joe.

I feel like what Cody is trying to portray, is that Teenagers/kids don't really care about the small things, they just want things that are "shiny," because kids/teenagers don't have time for the boring things.  While that might be true for very little kids, it could be nothing but farther from the truth for older kids.

I've been obsessed with the park since I was 5, and I've never gotten bored with it, because I guarantee you the park wasn't at all "shiny," when I was a kid, I loved the park for what it was. I studied the park so much at that age, that I probably knew more about the park at that age, then half of the people viewing this post right now.

Older kids/teens nowadays love the "artsy" things. It doesn't have to be "shiny," at all, it just has to be beautiful. We love things that are "over-detailed" in a way.

For example when I see my friends post pictures of Busch Gardens on Instagram, or Facebook It's usually of Park Landscaping, Hamlets, or just beautiful scenes in the park. I've never seen anyone post the giant Illuminights  Snail, or disco turtle. They love the park because of this very reason, they love it because it's beautiful, not because it's "shiny."

I think teenagers will be shocked to find out that the park traded in the quaintness, and serenity of Banbury Cross for the "shiny," loud Rock-n-roll of the British Invasion.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

I am excited that there is a live performance back in the Globe- regardless. For most of my life, real live acts performed there and it was fantastic.

I get it that many of the younger crowd will be unfamiliar with the British Invasion music- and for that I am sad.  The music was revolutionary and yes; before my time as well.

I grew up in a musical family and we heard a variety of music from all genres and eras. The Beatles stand to be one of the most influential modern musicians ever.  My advice to those who never heard the Beatles or the Clash- the Who or whatever song selection they play in the Globe, just try to listen to other songs that sound like the music.  Chances are- you will be able to ramble off several hits you hear on the radio today.

Lastly, the renovation status of the Hamlet.. I do not understand why this area was slated for a redo.  It still baffles me as New France and Festa are in so much of a need for a Face lift. Banbury to me. was beautiful and timeless.  If the rumors are true, to repaint anything on the outside or make it look modern seems ridiculous when so many other things need the love and funding.

Regardless... only 30 plus days left until we get to see what has been done so far.

I hope none of us have a heart attack in the middle of paths painted with groovy pastel colors like a scene from Austin Powers.

Because if that is how the park looks- someone may need to follow me with paddles.  CLEAR!

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

The only "shiny" I wanna see is Shiny in the sense of Firefly. In Firefly Shiny means awesome and fun and great. Lets hope we can find the right balance between Busch Gardens quaintness and british invasion sparkles.

I don't know if it's public, but I guess it will be now.

From what I understand of the current plan, it should start with or around Food & Wine.

My guess is that the puppets will be very large- cirque du soleil style with images from the "Yellow Submarine Days of the Beatles.

London Rocks will have puppets. A lot of puppets.

I really don't see anything good coming out of puppets, I can't name one puppet show that I didn't think was cheesy, or kiddish.

Personally after seeing the preview for the Beatles Cirque du Soleil preview, I have more faith for this show. I think it can still go off nicely.

...aaannnndddd the theory that Entwined would be the gaudiest show the park would ever see goes blooey.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

Yeah, I kind of freaked out when I heard that they were using puppets. However, I don't know what kind of puppets they are actually going to be using. I think the only way that I could possibly excuse this, is if they are very interesting body puppets used in moderation. However, some of the people there don't know the meaning of moderation.
