Thank god that abomination "London Rocks" is gone so that I can go in the Globe Theater without screaming silently in agony. Here's to "Britmania", a show that will be superior in every way in comparison to what came before it. At least the music will be the main focus which is something "London Rocks" should've done from the start.
My wife and I purposefully avoided LR during its whole run. The last time we set foot on the Globe was the final day of Pirates 4D.
Hopefully its successor will be better on all fronts.

Fun fact: that big red button on the right side of the image was installed so park officials could instantly fire Scott Gasparich, should it ever become urgently necessary to do so.

I still think a Shakespeare themed show during the prime summer season, with the set projection technology and really good costumes, would be amazing. But Summer Nights Live is fine... I guess...

Not I. One of the worst investments imaginable.
About as much as I miss Scott.... that is, not at all. It marked the height of waste at BGW.
Set projection is a good and useful tool when used properly. And should be used as an accent to the set and not the entire thing.
Bgw just relies heavily on it for these shows, and they can't even get it to focus so it's bad.
London Rocks was awful, Britmania was a step in the right direction, Summer Nights Live is... Well I don't even know. I wouldn't mind having actual sets in the Globe Theater for their shows instead of projections personally.
I do. i thought all the characters were well cast and the mix of music and the interaction of the characters were all done well. Did not understand the puppets. For all the people who have disliked the show, all the times i saw it there was at least 75% of the seats filled and plenty of times it was at capacity.
Lolz. London Rocks - what a complete waste (which is true of virtually all theme park entertainment except the added kick in the balls of LR costing as much as a ride installation). If anyone ever wonders why current BGW leadership doesn't give 2 shits about park shows, look no further than the overpriced dumpster fire that is, er, was London Rocks. And I can't really blame the powers that be for putting park shows on the back burner. If I was the BGW Emperor, I'd probably cancel all shows all together. They all suck.
Millions of dollars wasted on a 15 minute "Broadway" show. Imagine how that money could have been spent otherwise. What a shame. Oh well, at least Banbury got those awesome little Union Jack flags that were totally not tacky in the slightest.

I think really the best thing to come out of London Rocks was Scrooge No More.
I miss the ambition behind London Rocks, but not the show itself. In my idea of a perfect world, every show would be on par with Broadway’s top shows; just shorter. Even if LR had a Broadway budget (which I doubt until I see specific numbers), it still felt like an overblown theme park show- but not even that good, as far as they go.
Gloria is probably the closest thing we have to a full scale Broadway production, because of the live orchestra and about 95% of what you hear being live. Love it or hate it (and in spite of its gimmicks): that one detail gives it the “soul,” or ”wholesomeness” that almost all theme park shows lack.
Unfortunately, I don’t see the part justifying the cost of running a show with a live orchestra outside of Christmas Town, since they can run shows like Celtic Fyre at probably half the cost- and to great fanfare.

Rarely have I seen it used to good effect. When I have it has been very simple (light projecting a canopy of leaves with a gobo) In general projected senery is an abomination and flattens out the actors.

That's... Literally what I said tho? It's something to accent the sets or stage, not basically replace them like what bgw does.
I've seen it being used on a larger scale where it worked. I know it can work. But with bgw's flat set, and the fact they won't even focus them, makes it a massive issue.
It's like cgi in movies, it's a tool to be used and when it's used well, or sparingly in some cases, it's great. Use it poorly or too much, and it makes it garbage. You can't just dismiss the whole thing as trash when it has its uses.
