Maybe they spent all this money as an excuse to keep London Rocks for at least eight more years. People will be forced to beg for the original version.

Seriously though, I can't believe anybody at the park got away with this. I wonder if this or Roll Out The Barrel was the final straw.

Edit: Alternatively, they could keep every show element and save big bucks on Howl-O-Scream. New terrortory anyone? ;-P

I haven't seen this yet, but I'm not at all surprised that they ended up ruining the show even more this year. Every show they have attempted to make better has only gotten worse. That's why I was advising strongly not to spend money on new things like alterations to the stage, new costuming or projections, because ultimately it was most likely going to be a waste of money. And sure enough, look what happened. I guess Scott Gasparich wanted to go out with a bang, and waste money, as usual.

I'll most likely be seeing the show tomorrow. I'll have more thoughts then.

This is something I've been thinking about lately. Would these changes be the last 'wishes' of SG? Or are they new changes from whoever is now filling (or not filling) his shoes at this point??

I also worry that any 'new guy' who would replace SG might see what SG did, and (not knowing any better, and oblivious to the historical nature of BGW) take those shows to mean that's what the people want?

Or I could just be over-thinking the whole thing.....>

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

It was a disaster. It literally combined two shows together.

I don't understand how you start off at a concert segway into Octopus's Garden. (Which by the way they got a completely new costume for. Considering all the downsizing and more minimalist look to the show now.) And then for the show to completely go back to the concert route. They pulled Lucy (And this is me assuming her name is still Lucy. Because we're back to square one with not knowing who she is again.) on stage twice. once before and once after Octopus. Were they supposed to be two different bands? Who knows.

Then they some how went into some dance to Bohemian Rhapsody. They didn't even sing the song. They started it off, did the whole "Is this the real life? Or is this just fantasy?" bit. And then when it was about to get into the song itself, completely dropped singing and did some dance. Which I assume is supposed to be Lucy and the Lead Singer's bonding moment.

And then after that it was London Rocks version 1 in reverse.

It was a mess.

If they had just stuck to the concert experience thing, I would have completely understood. I don't enjoy that sort of thing, but I would have understood. I felt like I was watching Frankenrock version 1. It was clearly just missing Frankenstein's monster singing Barbie Girl to a witch, while the Bride get's jealous.

I also felt a little insulted for the band playing as well, because they could not be heard at all. (There were of course audio problems. Such as Lucy could not be heard for like half the show.) What is the point of hiring people who can actually play instruments, and then not let them actually play.

The Queen has one cameo appearance in the entire show. But she doesn't say a word.

Over all, I don't understand how the show could have gotten worse. Because even Frankenrock got better, and the show was completely based on a "concert experience".

Just pick one, a concert experience or a small story.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

I have seen the new and improved London Rocks 2 times now. The show is awful: no storyline like last year. The musical changes were not that bad, but the show now just plain stinks. I guess it can grow on me the more I watch it, but am not gonna place a bet on that.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

last years story: girl has dream, girl meets guy, they marry, they have kids, they fight, moral of the story is love

this years story: concert, girl and guy fall in love, girl is jealous of groupies, they fight, they marry, moral of the story is love

anyone noticed how peter the pretzel maker is in LR?

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

I have feelings about this. In fact I have many feels about this. Much feels. VERY much feels.

I * L O V E D * London Rocks last year. LOVED it. I've been waiting all year to see it again and did I say I loved it?

So I went to see it yesterday and almost vomited blood. What the HELL did they do to this show? No, not what. I mean WHY. This show is a disaster and I hated it. Am I correct in how I'm remembering this new version, that they took out Space Oddity, Wonderful Tonight, Come Together, and others? I mean why? WHY!? They ruined it. But honestly it's not just that they ruined it accidentally or inadvertently while trying to save money or tweak it for people's taste, no, it's as if they deliberately set out to ruin it. The graphics blow, the song arrangements don't transition well, the acting is cheesy (even for a theme park concert) and they seriously - seriously - underutilize the lights, smoke, choreography, blah blah blah and WHY OH GOD WHY!?

And yeah I hear you guys talking about how it wasn't good last year either but in my book I thought it was spectacular. I loved it all. It was SUCH a great show and now it London Sucks.

To whom do I need to complain? Where can I send my strongly worded letters?

Edit: Oh and also, does someone have a good, quality video of the old version? The ones on youtube aren't great.

I think it's worth noting that the director is listed as Karma Kamp(Killarney Kommotion choreographer); not Sam Buntrock. I guess they didn't want to pay the cost of outsourcing directors.

Also, I plan to go to the park this weekend. I want to get a few more photos before giving my review.
