RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)
Now that this is over for the year, some insight. For those that care to ponder.
----------------------
At the beginning, the business men can be seen walking down the sidewalk in the projection before entering stage right.
It was originally suppose to rain down on the audience during the thunder of the umbrella scene.
Lucy comes down the spiral stairs to the underground station and gets on the train. In the projection, she can be seen sitting in train as you pass through the train.
Lucy's room is muted and colorless.
The colors and projections, when the band is revealed, is Lucy's world spiraling out of control through a psychedelic time tunnel as she is transported into a trippy new world of music and color. Sort of a Dorothy going from Kansas to Oz. At song end, the swirls slow down and Lucy returns to her room which now has color.
The record shop reveal is described as "Tardis Origami". Perhaps the show has bigger meaning on the inside than on the outside?
After the wedding, the reception (Let's Dance) is a big street party with flags strung (like in Banbury) and Sgt. Pepper people dancing from one side of Arnold Street to the other. The building are also flashing different colors. What is the fascination with street parties?
The children are Alfie (dark hair), Bernard (blonde with glasses) and Lisa (redhead). Their parts are prerecorded, though the puppeteers move their own mouths.
I'm honestly so distracted by the mascot costumes that I never noticed the Queen piloting the yellow submarine in the undersea sequence. The costumed singing parts are prerecorded. There was a planned blast of water from the back of the seats at the end of "We Will Rock You".
Lucy and Guy live in Lucy's home as her yellow door is back for the teenage angst scene. It is 6 am as you can tell from Big Ben's six chimes. The dancers are businessmen but now in bright 80's colors. It rains businessmen. The buildings flash in colors and the rain adds phone booths, black umbrellas, red umbrellas, cups and sauces and flowers (Yeah, I don't get it either). Then, the flowers just suddenly disappear instead of "rain" away.
Arnold Lane is supposedly then carried away by balloons (Uh, okay). You can see the block float away behind the Queen in a version of the South Bank of the Thames with the Globe Theatre, Big Ben, and the crowd dancing to the distant concert we are about to see.
There was a SFX fog machine plan of Big Ben taking off and creating a cloud of strawberry scented fog.
The end number is suppose to signify the "ultimate rock concert" with fireworks and London in the skyline. The "Queen" was to play a guitar solo. Whilst singing "All You Need is Love", the projections continually drop the words "Love You" when the cast sings "love".
There was a QBC of the Queen signing off. "Loyal subjects! Than you for tuning in for one's special presentation of London Rocks. Enjoy the rest of your day, wherever you are in the British Empire. Cheers and toodle pip!"
Don't you feel smarter now? <= Sarcasm. For those that can't recognize it.
