I've had the soundtrack of this show stuck in my head since it closed. London Rocks withdraws are pretty bad

I have most of the songs memorized of how the songs were portrayed, mostly. I know one fan who can recite the whole show. Honestly, I prefer the songs in London Rocks over the originals. If only London Rocks could have used full songs. That would be awesome.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

OK. So, I am actually curious. Why do you prefer the LR versions? There are a few covers I like better than the originals, but honestly those are the exceptions. Orgy's Blue Monday comes to mind.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

It is mainly how they are mixed and their beats.

I like combining the lyrics of 'I Know It's Only Rock'n Roll' with the 'Deep Purple' instrumental because it felt more like a rock'n roll song than it's original version.

I like how they used only the chorus for the most part from 'For Your Love' because I felt that was the best part of the song and it was mixed with a few other great songs.

I liked how the songs were overall more upbeat and rock-ish than a lot of their originals. Using 'Wonderful Tonight' to open the wedding scene was great because the song is a love song, and then it leads into, "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" and "For Your Love" which I felt sounded much more better together.

I loved how they mixed "We Will Rock You", "Octopus's Garden", and "Come Together" because I felt 'We Will Rock You' already had that rock'n roll vibe and mixing the three together gave that beat to the other songs and it felt more rock'n? Even "Octopus's Garden" felt more amped up than it's original while still keeping much of the original.

It's hard to say, while not being an expert in the terminology. I just feels right for me.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

My mom hated any and every aspect of the singing in this show. She thought the lyrics were constantly being butchered by the performers, and that there was a serious lack of good songs in the show. Instead of using the really good songs from the era, they tried using lyrics to tell a story. This ultimately ended up ruining the flow of the show, and authenticity, because incase you didn't notice, there were two songs in there from the Romantics, a band from Detroit.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

I did notice some of the lyrics do not seem to match the originals exactly, but fairly close enough for me not to notice. However, if I can't notice it, then I don't dwell on it. It just simply isn't worth it for me. I did feel like every song chosen was really good. Sure there are many, many other songs they could have chosen, but the ones they did choose was not a bad bunch. Nor did I feel they ruined the show. Even the authenticity was fine for me. Mainly because just like their music traveled to America, I am sure our music traveled to England. The song from the Romantics was not a bother to me at all. I felt they matched the style and the beat of the show.

May I ask what the other song is from the Romantics? I know 'What I Like About You' was from them, but I didn't notice any other music.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

Correction: 1 song is by the Romatics.

And you're wrong Party Rocker, the Romantics are not authentic, this is supposed to be a show about British rock, not any song that was played in England. British music came to America, but we can't call it American music, just like we can't call American music British because it went over to England. If you like to defend the park in that way, fine, but it's not a valid point.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

The show is about how music from that era influenced Lucy and Guys lives through mainly British music. I didn't say the Romantics were authentic or that they were British. I just said I felt the authenticity was fine for me. I enjoyed it and saw no problem with it.

Now, I will like to point out that I do not appreciate the tone of your post. Do not call my opinions wrong please. All throughout my posts I used various forms to prove it is my opinions. I used plenty of "I feels", "to me's", "for me's", etc.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

I'm pretty sure the show is supposed to be about how British music from the era influenced their lives, not any type of music. Because believe it or not, there was a lot of other music in that era, and if it were supposed to be any music, they would be leaving out a lot of genres and types of music.

PR, after talking to some other people, and I don't mean to be presumptuous in saying this, if you like this sort of style of show then I honestly think the shows at KD would be right up your alley. Seriously, the music and production style there are perfectly tailored to your liking. I actually would recommend them to you.

Also, I honestly think there is a valid discussion for comparing LR to KD40 On Stage, though LR is definitely superior.

I honestly wouldn't be so quick to assume that.

Clip art or not, the area looks 100% better at night than it does during the day.

The show really wasn't that bad either. Yeah it needed a few tweaks to work and that whole underwater scene is a distraction, but me and my parents happened to enjoy it a lot. Song-wise, I'd still put it on par with Celtic Fyre.

- Yeah I just said London Rocks' soundtrack was as good as Celtic Fyre's.

If I was an Admin, I would ban you for such a comment.

Edit: Extra context.... While the songs are fine, comparing the 2 shows and their songs doesn't really make sense. Plus, IMO, LR is a rather clusterfuck of a show.

I've been thinking about this production after watching MSoRR. I think it should get the entwined v2 treatment. American Jukebox seemed to be very popular and was always packed. This should become London Jukebox. Drop all the mash-up Rock of Ages junk that doesn't really work and just do straight up songs, They can be through whatever time period, with some good chorography. There could be a story, or not. All the expensive stuff, set and projections, can stay as it. Trash the dolls and animal suits. It could be easily refreshed al la American Jukebox by switching songs season to season.
