I wouldn't be surprised, except it would be called The Wild Reserve Rocks!

^ I still like it. We saw the 6pm show yesterday and I think the performance is getting tighter and more polished. Although the wife made a comment about it being trippy, just like H.R. Puffenstuff.

Not sure if this was said underneath the songs listings but there is also a small snippet of Peer Gynt playing when the sun is out. A lot of people don't know where that music comes from its heard in a lot of cartoons it sounds very happy but the story itself is actually a sad one :( Uh oh I wonder if they got permission to use Peer Gynt in their show YIKES!

They also are experimenting without using tickets...they did so on Sunday.

Are you sure they are "experimenting"? A few days ago, Thursday, it was dead empty and they didn't use tickets because of the fact there was no point since there was no one around for the most part it seemed.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

I finally saw it. Went to the 4:30 show yesterday with my brother-in-law. He hadn't been to BGW since 2006. I did not like the show. He did not like the show. (He is a middle school art teacher) Spent the rest of the evening trying to grasp something that I DID like about it. I came up with 'effects'. They were the only thing interesting to me. I dozed off twice, waking with a twitch, wondering if anybody noticed. We then went to see Celtic Fyre. Completely different level of talent in that show. It demands your attention and it gets it. Tootle loo.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

That is exactly how I felt. I brought my Mother and Grandmother, two people who experienced the British Invasion, first hand. They were both sorely dissapointed. We went directly to Celtic Fyre, and it was like walking across the street from a Budget Lodge to a Hilton. Really, I think their target audience, are people who have experienced the British Invasion themselves, but everyone I've talked to who is that age, has been horribly dissapointed with the show.

Finally saw it yesterday. The seven year old liked it (the definition of "liked it" in my household: sat quietly through the whole thing). The three year old just wanted to see the kitties she kept hearing and doggies on the tv. She asked very loudly after every scene if it was over yet. She did not like it.

I did like it. I really did. Will I be obsessed about seeing it all the time (i.e. Imaginique, Monster Stomp)...no. But it was not bad. Completely. I had a few issues:

1. The mix was a little off. The female singer was way louder than the male. And I really don't understand the decline in quality female leads from this park in the last few years. In fact, the 'backup' female singer sounded a lot better.

2. I only saw two(?) kissing situations. One when they got married, and then finally at the end. Did not see an issue with any of that. God forbid people in love kiss at their wedding. As a parent, I am not offended by my kids seeing two people professing their love to one another in a physical display of affection such as kissing. Kissing is not an ugly thing. What IS ugly is having straight up @SS hanging out of some cut off jean shorts up on stage. I will not comment on the fact that as a fellow fluffy person, I do believe that maybe that was not the right wardrobe choice for her (whoops! did it anyways). But for real though, all dat...butt...Maybe some capris would work better for her (and us?). Also did not care for the fact that when sitting on the right side of the theater, Lucy bends over the stairs a few times and we get a glimpse of underwear. And again, if this was Fiends and I was expecting to see this, I have no problem at all. And my kids go to that show--and love it--so I am no way a prude. I just needed a few more inches of fabric. Just a few.

The good:

1. I thought all the vocals, with the exception of the lead female, were really good. It just felt like Lucy was yelling at me and not singing. And I really do appreciate the use of live instruments. I enjoy that effort in every show they incorporate live music into. There was a bit of an issue with the guitar after the Wonderful Tonight solo, so we did not get the full effect, but stuff happens. It wasn't his fault or for lack or trying to fix it after it stopped working.

2. I really liked the the new stage. I thought it was visually striking. I also appreciated the full intigration of the effects that the theater is capable of since the introduction of 4D movies, into this show. It was just the right amount without seeming too gimmicky.

Ultimately, I am happy that seeing it in person was a much better experience than watching the video. This may be a show that you have to see in person before forming a final opinion.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

I have to say I enjoyed the show also. I saw it Saturday, 2nd to the last show. When I saw the video posted here the vocals did sound unbalanced. I bet they are having trouble with their new audio equipment and it takes a few shows to get it right. I would like to see the sound booth. The show I saw sounded good.
I also found the story easy to follow even if it sucks. Find true love, have 3 kids at once (I bet that felt good), during the gas crisis in the 70's these little money suckers are tripping out in the back of my car, now I am short haired in a crappy job and bad kids, to the MOON.
The live music was good. A guitar player popped a string and kept going like a pro. The effects and projection was cool. The queen loves gin, who knew?
The puppets are bad. They are good looking and all but seeing the people destroy the effect. They should be wearing white and use the projection to hide them. The technology is there. They would work better as marionettes and that may have been the plan but it did not work so at the last minute they hired people to do it. The idea of $10,000 robotic heads coming to life on some shelf backstage when We Will Rock You starts makes me smile.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

So I hated it. I felt like this would give me ADD like lots of sugar gives a person diabetes (maybe that's what they wanted). The story was easy enough to follow, but it was so abstract and nonsensical that it felt like a middle schoolers attempt at interpretive art. The first part isn't that bad, but as soon as you got to those puppets, it's clear the show has no idea what it's doing.

The technical aspects are cool, don't get me wrong, but with the serious talent has for the show, it isn't needed. It's only there to be cool and different at the park. I would feel more comfortable watching the show with traditional sets because I know the company shouldn't be spending its resources on flashy extras.

This show is flashy and I hate it. Has anybody compared Scott to Rodger Dupree from The Producers? It assaults you with more color and motion than my brain could keep track of and it felt like something to keep the attention of Toddlers.

But hey! I'm doing the #funchallenge! I'll be watching this show ala Clockwork Orange until it's endearing to me, because just have fun!

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

Actually, I have noticed that the ticket stand has been removed for a little while and for the past few days consecutively no tickets were handed out for any show. Sorry to disbelieve you whispers, I thought it was only on slow days, but at least it is now something much more frequent.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

Maybe they are only going to use the tickets for LR that you can buy in advance now?

Except that the site does still talk about the ticketing system.

When did this happen? You've never been able to buy tickets for a show in advanced or on the spot?

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

Nic said what I was getting at. Zach is going to go into detail, but you can now purchase tickets online to watch the show. How scummy can this park get?
