RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

What was the point of telling passholders we'd get to see it first if they opened it up today to the general public? I understand media days, but if anyone could get in today why did they wast paper sending out invites for Sunday? And if this was the case, anyone should be allowed to come in Sunday too. I thought about going, but I'm the only one with a season pass in my household.

Not trying to be a snob, I just don't get why advertise it to passholders one way, then do it differently two days prior. Could have saved some postage and a few trees by not mailing out invites.

I have three main issues. The video project toon was slightly off creating some clips blurry, the storyline is so weak you have to struggle to pay attention to what the story is, and the songs don't really flow together into a story.

However despite the technical troubles, it was a very good show. I hope they can improve the story more but that is really the only issue. As a stand alone concert type show, it was more on point. Love the use of old effects.

Sunday is the official opening date. Think of today as the dress rehearsal to test out any new stuff, work out kinks, and prep all the actors.

No, May 23 is the official opening date. My postcard says May 18th is the dress rehearsal date that passholders are invited to attend. My understanding was that today was supposed to be media day.

EDIT: Unless something changed and I'm just completely unaware, in which case I apologize for my assumption.

I am guessing that Busch Gardens wanted a nice full Theatre for Media Day, and to make a good impression on there own personal army of Mommy Bloggers and other Media reps they opened it to GP.

Personally if I was invited media I would think a small select audience would be preferred rather to be able to make an opinion of the show without the distraction of a packed house. especially since there were Q & A sessions with the cast and crew.

Just my thoughts

The first show half the theatre was rope off only half of its capacity.

Technical Dress Rehearsals all weekend to the public except for Sunday, Pass Members only. The previews have run like straight shows no interruptions. Scott does make a quick announcement in the beginning and they have a ton of the broadway people in the back with tables and such.

This show is a HUGE undertaking for the park, and from what I've heard and seen so far, it seems like they've done an EXCELLENT job! I was afraid at first because of the atrocious decorations on the Globe (which they've fixed), but now, I'm really exited to see the show! I was even more surprised when I heard that the cast was mad completely of Broadway actors!

I think people judged the decorations way too much. A large bit of the show is not comprised of those kinds of bright neon colors, only select parts. The decorations really do not give much information about the show.

I liked the pre-show. It was simply a little bit about Queen Elizabeth giving instructions on how to properly drink tea basically. I was upset, no water squirts during the pre-show, but I suppose that is an effect in the works maybe?

So basically the show has a very loose plot which I will try to describe how the show is set out. First, the show starts with a news announcement from the Queen, then a song or two. Another news announcement from the Queen, followed by one or two more songs, and so forth. It seems that as said, you are following the different stages in the main character's life. Each stage separated by an announcement from the Queen. These announcements are made with the curtains closed on three rather small TV screens on stage for the most part. The first part of the main characters life seems to be the teenage stage, then it goes to her falling in love, to getting married, to having children, then those children grow up, and ends with the message of 'All You Need Is Love'. Personally I do not feel that message was portrayed entirely through the show clearly.

The puppetry was nice, but I really wish the puppeteers were invisible instead of just wearing black clothing. My suggestion would be make the puppets and other character black lighted so that the puppeteers are better hidden in the dark while the puppets pop right out similar to how the skeletons for Monster Stomp Revamped were done. I don't understand why they couldn't use younger people to play the children instead of puppets. Maybe children were not an option? The parachute pants used towards the end seemed to have a hole in them already.

The show seemed like there should have been much more excitement and crowd interaction; however, I felt the crowd was more confused rather than excited. They were probably trying to figure out what exactly is going on. That will be the question you will ask your self at least 10X in this show.

I literally watched this show with Zachary and there were parts were I had to laugh because of how 'out there' some of the scenes were. I really keep asking myself what is going on? What is the plot here? At least shows like Celtic Fyre and Entwined had a plot. I felt like this show was more like Mix It Up, music without an actual plot or story, yet there was one and it was loosely there and it did bug me somewhat that they did not really dive deeper into the story or at least left the story out altogether.

So as you may have noticed, plot, story, theme is my biggest issue. Something I am sure they can work on slightly here and there. Other than that, fix the puppetry some more I really don't know why they would blatantly have the puppeteers so visible. Otherwise, really fabulous, mind bending, rocking show.

To make Pass Members feel special. Just like how Colossal Curl preview was supposed to be just for Pass Members until the park posted on Twitter the preview is for just about everyone now.

That said, the show times are not advertised, and I had to go up and ask if they were previewing the show in order for them to say sure come on in. It wasn't like they posted show times and told everyone passing by to watch it.

Also, the new lobby looks drop dead gorgeous, please someone get pictures!

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

What I meant is they create these Pass Member events to make pass members feel special. Then they change their plans at the last minute.

For example today, there was only supposed to be one showing at 11:30 for Social and News Media only. However after that showing they decided to hold two more previews and then there was a special VIP event for the Park and Corporate Executives and family members and a few select others to see the show and dine.

The public previews today were not fully decided upon until today, and that goes for the ones tomorrow, they might not have any tomorrow; however, I have a strong feeling they will have them.

More on the ticketing system . . .

On a day to day basis all showtimes will be given a letter: A, B, C, D, E, F, and so on depending on how many showtimes there are that day.

When a guest goes up to get their ticket, the ticket will not have the showtime listed, but instead will have the letter listed. The letter will be listed on the back of the park map with the corresponding showtime.

For example, showtimes will be listed at the theater doors and letters will be listed on the tickets. The park map will list both the letter and showtime.

The process is extremely overly complex in my opinion and honestly I have no idea why they tried to incorporate letters into the system.

I don't know. I think it makes sense, if the show times vary. They only need to produce tickets with letters, as opposed to having every possible show time printed. They are hopefully achieving some economies of scale. And they have to print the maps every day, so the information can change there, as necessary.
