RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

Just saying the first rule of secret keeping is don't tell anyone you have a secret. It just gets people annoyed and frustrated and starts unnecessary drama. I'd rather you not say anything at all than say something that will start this crap.

So, basically, "I know something you don't know"

It is information, whether it is information you like or not is irrelevant.

It doesn't take that imbecile Dr Who/What/Where or whatever the fool's name is to figure that one out.

+Thanks because you really are entertaining.

No one is asking you to reveal your "sources", and again, you/them may be right about this production. I just don't think you should be posting such ambiguous comments without being able to provide any kind of details of where that opinion came from and/or how that "insider" came to that conclusion.

Well, I think this may be more along the lines of an impetus for a Bandwagon Effect.  Regardless, I don't think Zach's comment is too invalid; if you disregard the rumors that Atlantis has heard, it won't affect your thinking of the show the first time you see it.

The phenomenon of Social Proof is unavoidable within the context of entertainment.  It's almost impossible to go see a movie without hearing someone's opinions of it in conversation or online.  Sure, it can have an effect on your perception of the film's quality, but how many times do you see a movie and totally disagree with the opinions or reviews you've heard?  I'd imagine that happens all the time.  I think Social Proof applies more to a response in the moment, though, such as the effect that laugher or applause will cause in a crowd, than anything you've heard prior to experiencing it for yourself.  I don't think it's as relevant in this situation.

Excellent points Franco! You have shed a different light on my comment and I enjoyed reading that. While there may be some subtle differences, I would say that Social Proof and Bandwagon Effect are, for this argument, identical. I do think most of what you wrote is 100% correct, but I still believe social proof is both immediate and long term and is very relevant to this discussion. If someone you know(or feel like you know) and trust tells you info, you tend to believe it...whether it's true or not. That belief can sway much of what you do and how you think in life. This is just on a smaller scale.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

Still, it is of value to some, such as myself, that there are people who have knowledge of the show who don't think it looks promising.

In general I agree it can just be provocative to say in effect, "I know something and you don't" without saying what that something is. But in this case, it is a data point that I couldn't have gotten on my own. And I am glad to have that information.

Hopefully as the project proceeds it will improve.

With some very, very, very limited experience in local theater, I do know that sometimes things in the script stage can look fantastic -- witty, and fun, easy to produce, and so on -- and then fall completely flat. Dialogue that seemed so witty on the page can turn out boring and tedious even with skillful direction. Other shows can produce better than they appear on the page.

I have no idea what London Rocks will be like, but even without Atlantis's portent, I have to say I probably have a negative bias or pessimistic view of it, based on Entwined and several of the Illuminights shows.

BTW, who is the "imbecile" and "fool" Doctor, Atlantis? The forum member, or is this a pop culture reference I'm not getting?

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

What I've gotten from these last 2 pages really shows how much people know about inside sources and the information people like Atlantis give to the rest of us. The guy doesn't want to risk the jobs of people who give him the info, I wouldn't want to do that, and I'm sure Zach wouldn't like to do that either. There's a reason why he doesn't want to post too much, even if he doesn't give out a name parks can still use the evidence in the post to find out who's leaking. With a general post like his how can you trace it back to someone? Literally every full-time employee in entertainment, and the actors themselves, have experience with London Rocks. You can't fire everyone for that.

Tearing into a simple post and wasting 2 full pages debating about it really just shows me how much anyone wants to view others opinions (if it doesn't agree with mine its garbage). Ideals like that are worse for a community than leaking, I seriously feel like I'm back in 2011 with the Verbolten leaks and everyone gunning at each other's throats over any slightly opinionated post in that thread.

'Bandwagon effect' or not, its your opinion. You and only you can form it. Just cause Atlantis says something you don't agree with doesn't mean we all have to get the pitchforks and torches. You can ignore his post, there's nothing that says "I have to question him further." It's just a shame that people choose not to and we end up with petty insults from both sides.

TL;DR: an employee says its bad, don't blow up over it.

Thanks for the defense but it really is not needed. These people quoting me time and time again just allows me to be read more here, and yes, elsewhere. I enjoy how I am a target for some folks, it really shows who the true insiders are when people foam over not saying all.

Some have pm'ed me asking about you asking this. What I meant was fairly obvious to them so I will leave it open to interpretation for those who do not get it; as with many things I post.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

My personal feeling is that Atlantis's original post, while undoubtedly a bit nebulous, is still a fair contribution to this thread.  It's pretty much implied that someone who has far more familiarity than anyone else here with the show shared this opinion, and nothing more really needs to be spelled out.

We do a great deal of discussing rumors on this site, and this doesn't seem much different to me.  Let's just move on.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

Okay I'm going to do the job and bring the thread back to Justice! So now that we know about what is going outside of the theater and in the hamlet, what are they doing in the lobby and theater?( Excluding the show itself.)

The problem with posts like that is a phenomenon known as "Social Proof" (I'll post a link for the definition). When people who read this go into that building, unconsciously, many will already have in their heads that it's a bad show and it will become a "find the faults" session. Whether it's a bad or good show, that is unfair to the entire crew, cast and everyone involved in it's creation who deserve and unbiased assessment of their work. All that comment does it keep adding to the pre-judgement of a show that hasn't even hired actors, but instead of being speculation, it has now become fact without any kind of details as to why.

Speculation is speculation. Obviously he only has knowledge of where the show is so far, so why can't he comment on that? Not only does it have a crap theme and plenty of gaudy tricks as we already know, but it also seems to have had a rough start. I'm sure if we had seen any of the park's good shows during rehearsal, we all would have praised it. Speculation is speculation.

Would you prefer we throw hearts icons and smiley faces all over this thread? Matt Conkle is right when he says that the show does also deserve an assessment.

Therefore, I think those of you who are going around saying, "I think the show will be amazing!" are equally guilty because they have not fairly evaluated the show either.

Union Jacks, Union Jacks everywhere...

...and maybe an Austin-Healey in front of the theatre if they find one.

^^^ This!

Everyone is accusing the "change haters" on here of judging the show before it's debuted. But wait a second, the next post you see they say "Oh I'm sure it will be fine." Don't judge us for judging a show before it's debuted, and then turn around and do the same thing.

tl;dr Don't be a F****** hypocrite!

I'm quoting this so it doesn't get missed.

There's no way Atlantis's posts changed anyone's minds on either side of the aisle- I don't know why you people are making such a big deal out of it. This show was leaked two years ago, in detail over a year ago, and announced around six months ago- by now everyone has preconceived ideas and opinions about it- it's no use pretending we don't and, additionally, as this thread has shown 100 times before, it's frivolous to attempt to change the opinion of anyone on the other side- especially this late in the game. The discussions in which our opinions on the show's theme, direction, etc were formed happened over a year ago- everyone is entrenched in their mindset now whether you all like it or not. Better to call it as it is than pretend it's not the case.

tl;dr: This conversation is pointless. Give it up.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

I've been staying away from this thread for the sake of not wanting to spoil my day for Pass member preview and pretend nothing is going on.. (ignorance is bliss sometimes). But when Zachary starts throwing tables: (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ i couldn't resist posting again.

So what if the budget is cut and the things are not going to happen as planned. I consider it a stay of execution. This are a' changing at Busch Gardens and I see it plainly.

On one hand you have Busch Gardens that is removing the past and you have Kings Dominion that is returning to it. Who is right- wrong? I guess the end result will be ticket sales.

As for London Rocks, what makes me very sad is how long the Globe will be empty, bereft of life, ceased to be, resting in peace, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisible!! THIS IS AN EX-Theater!!

At least for longer than expected. Hopefully, the show is just pining for the fjords and will soon bounce back and open sooner than later.

But anything that requires removing, restructuring, replacing quality thememing of a hamlet best be worth it.

RE: London Rocks! (2014 to Present)

Oh guys guess what I know a ton of stuff and I will tell you all coming in a few hours! And you guys though England was safe.

Oh wait, I don't want to just tease anyone so I might as well say it now:

England will be under construction until May. For those few months construction walls will be all over England while theming is being built. The plan is to debut the show with tons of flags and theming outside everyone about the stereotypical London. Also, the park will hold previews for pass holders the weekend before debuting.

For the record, I never said Banbury was safe- far from it. I just said that the budget was nuked and what we will see is far less than what was planned.

I'm planning on publishing more soon...
