I'm not sure I understand the logic. If your animal programs are misrepresented in a documentary, why should you get rid of your animals at a sister park?

BGW has proven time and time again that their plan execution and ideas do not involve 'logic'.
I want to make a few points on this. First of all the Conservation fund is separate from the parks and non profit and as such subject to all sorts of public and governmental over site.
Now on to the layoffs. As much as they sadden me I can see the parks point Zoo and animal care are extremely costly. As someone with first hand knowledge on the general cost of equine care I shook my head at the idea of them breading the Clydesdale a few years back a very costly idea for little to no gain. Also as much as I enjoy the animals right now they play second fiddle in the park with cramped space for them. BGT does a nice job blending the wildlife and park but it just doesn't seem to mesh as well to me with BGW. Maybe shrinking the Zoological Department will allow for a smaller and more focused display that might lead to a more attractive long term situation.

I'm going to be totally honest. I have no idea what animals everyone is talking about. The only animals I've seen at the park are the horses, eagles, and wolves. And some sheep I think.
There is a wide variety of animals that the park rotates through the Wild Reserve (the serval, porcupines, lemurs, wallaroos, etc.) plus permanent lorikeets and snakes. In addition, there are dogs, owls, chickens, and cows in the Highland Stables, and several animals that aren't on display, that they bring out for the tours.

That's unfortunate. You'd think the money brought in from the tours would help to offset some of the costs of taking care of the animals.
This would be the case if BGW was still a self sustaining entity. But any money made at this point is being wired to outside partners/affiliates as profit.pandorazboxx said:
The zoological tours page has mysteriously popped back up today! It still has three tour options, one being the combo of the other two. The Clydesdales and Collies tour and Wolf Training up close tour are the only encounters left availible. All other animal tours that were non-staple animal attractions have unfortunately been cut, such as the Birds of Prey tour, and others.
While the loss of the other tours is a sad thing, at least there are still tours to choose from, compared to when we thought there was going to be none this season.

Unfortunately, that is the case for me also, Nicole. I loved, loved, loved the Birds of Prey Tour, and am sad that this signals major cuts in terms of birds across the board.
On the brighter side, I have not yet taken the other two tours that are now the only two available. So at least I can experience something new in the zoology department this year, while telling the park I want the animals to stay at the park by going on the tour. Which is something I suggest the rest of you do also, support the zoology department as much as you can.

I've never experienced any of the animal tours so I wouldn't mind trying out the Wolf-Training Up-Close tour.
