News Kumba Set to Close on August 2nd

Kumba is still my favorite steel looper and I'd be sad to see it go however I wouldn't be surprised at all.
Considering the ride's age, it has tons of mileage on it. Given its length and capacity and the park's year-round operation, it was the most run and cycled B&M on the planet in the 90s and 2000s so it's gonna have a lot of wear and tear on it by now.

I hope it isn’t true. Kumba is easily my favorite ride in the park, and one of my favorite coasters of all time. This ride moves with such tenacity and raw aggression that most newer coasters lack, and it’s a damn good ride.
the most grass I've ever touched was on Kumba's final helix 
the music is making me cry. thankful for two weeks of notice now that the industry standard is 0 but it's not enough for me to get down there again. It really is a perfect design in almost every sense. She will be deeply missed
The wording seems like Kumba will live in some form.. I’m hopeful this could maybe be a retrack (cope)
Well that makes two coasters closing this year a month before I was due to visit. At least I've ridden Kumba on multiple previous trips to Florida, but it's going to be sad visiting and not being able to ride the coaster. Maybe I'll just drop BGT from this year's trip...I can wait on Phoenix Rising.
Honestly, while a closure is never happy, I feel this one has been looming for quite some time given the ride's inconsistent operation and low popularity. The fact that they've already confirmed something worthy of being called a headliner is on the way gives me hope that in the next couple years we'll have something amazing on that site, and if that indeed comes to fruition the loss of B&M's original looper will be worth it.

It's done its duty well, and I hope whatever BGT does, they honor this ride in some form, because it has helped to carry this park on its back for many years.

Damn, August 2nd is a rough day for enthusiasts.
Easy. It’s Kumba if I had the funds to do it. AF1 is good, but it ain’t no Kumba.
