Race for Your Life Charlie Brown was an odd choice from the start since it references a Peanuts film that most younger generations probably wouldn't know. While still a mouthful Charlie Brown's Rushing River Log Ride at least gives some sense of what the ride actually is.

Gotta give props to KI/CF for these name changes. At face value, they’re totally superfluous. For the renamed rides, they’ve basically swapped one Peanuts name for another — and on paper, the new names aren’t necessarily any better than the old ones.

But when you read the descriptions and look at the concept art, it’s clear that the names are being changed to fit the lore of the new Camp Snoopy. The new aesthetics and names have been chosen so that names that would have been incongruous with the camp theme, like the Flying Ace, become more fitting. That’s a totally unnecessary and unexpected level of attention to detail that KI certainly didn’t have to do — but the fact that they did, shows that they really care. Even about a kids’ area.

Quick note: I always thought Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown was an insanely clever name because it referenced a super obscure 80s Peanuts special where the characters ride a log down a river, just like the actual ride. It was a perfect fit. I only knew about the episode because I looked it up to understand why the ride was named that. Someone had really done their homework when picking that name, and I think it made for a better name than just the “[Character Name]’s [Noun]” naming convention that most IP-themed kiddie rides at major theme parks employ.

I thought Race For Your Life Charlie Brown was a made for TV movie or special? There's been quite a few though most people only seem to recall Christmas (there's at least two of them) and maybe Thanksgiving, Easter if you're lucky. I also recall there being one where they went to Europe?

Just updated my coaster count, which I usually keep current with name changes. It's weird there's now:

Woodstock Express (Junior PTC)
Woodstock's Air Rail (Vekoma Suspended)

Wonder if they are gearing up to restore the Beastie (or Scooby Doo?) names to the junior woodie? Or even just "Snoopy Coaster." They missed an opportunity to do this for the ride's 50th year.

Kings Island is holding a construction tour for media this weekend. That's quite late for a hard-hat-required tour, which indicates to me that this area will be not ready for KI's opening day on April 20. If it were, KI would probably be holding a media preview of the ride instead of just touring the construction site.
