Does anyone know how quickly the Cedar Point bricks sold out back when they did this?

Love the idea! I’m buying mine now.

So what? This has nothing to do with parkfans anyway.
Just pulling your chain. It gave me a good laugh when I saw it (and immediately made me think of parkfans). Good job on supporting the park.

There were a decent amount of bricks, not a crazy amount, it took me 5 minutes to get through all of them. Yours is one of the first on the path though!

Wait that's a real thing and not just a photoshop?

Yeah, go back a page on this thread. KD started selling customizable legacy bricks that they’re putting in front of the Kings Dominion Theater. Pretty cool way to be a part of the park forever.

Yeah, I knew they were selling customizable bricks. I was referring to that specific pictured brick as being real LOL.

In case anyone was interested in where specifically the bricks were placed (outside of the Kings Dominion Theater), as well as a random sample showing the current density of bricks placed (noting that more bricks may be placed)... here's a couple of photos:

Of note. I was really hoping the park was going to extend what was currently bricked outside the Theater, taking up additional asphalt sections, for putting down these new legacy bricks. (But alas, was just a crazy dream/desire on my part.)

Just thought I’d share this here. Thoughts?

Bitter, overly critical, and zero understanding of the fiscal realities of the chain. Feels like it was written by a literal teenager.

I mean I don't disagree, but I also don't think people have a responsibility to look at the big picture. This person's local park has been severely battered by entirely undeserved cuts and the value of the product they prepaid for was slashed to bits. I think it's super justified that they're angry.

So yeah, I value much deeper analysis than what that person posted to Facebook, but I understand where they're coming from and wouldn't disagree with their vent-fest broadly.

The post also completely leaves out the huge brand-new well-themed coaster we got, the continued thematic and aesthetic improvements to Jungle X, the rethemed and repainted Pantherian, the return of the Clown Band and shows in the Kings Dominion Theater, every single major building on International Street getting new paint, three dining location upgrades (Biergarten, Pizza Parlor, and the Funnel Cake Kitchen), the new Americana light package, and plenty of other small upgrades in the park.

Don’t get me wrong, most of the individual things mentioned in that post are fair criticisms that I agree with. But taken as a whole, focusing solely on the things the park lost and not even making a passing reference to the many things it got, destroys the credibility of the post. It strikes me as an immature rant and not a thoughtful or fair assessment of what happened this season.

I took the rant much more in that the idea that the park was celebrating 50 years wasn’t emphasized enough and it’s disappointing that instead of highlighting the recent improvements and putting money to celebrating with a special event; they killed some of those improvements and spent money on things that weren’t celebrating the park.

What makes you think that? Except for a passing mention of parade floats and the relocation of the Mexican restaurant (without mentioning any of the actual eatery upgrades that happened this year), they don’t mention anything that they “spent money on” at all. The rest is just complaining about cost-cutting measures. So that couldn’t possibly be their point. I don’t disagree that the cost-cutting sucked, but that’s hardly the point you’re saying they’re making.

And even if that was their point, it would be a remarkably stupid one. There were 50th anniversary flags, signs, banners, and garlands all over the park. The Eiffel Tower was decked out in a huge, glittering 50th anniversary marquee. There was a new nighttime light show for the first time in years fully designed around the 50th celebration. One of the two new shows in the KD Theater was specifically about the park through the decades. The Singing Mushrooms even had a song about the 50th anniversary (in addition to a whole bunch of new songs) for crying out loud. So I call BS on the line that “celebrating 50 years wasn’t emphasized enough” and that they “didn’t put money to celebrating with a special event.”

A lot of the other enhancements (like the International Street building makeovers and the America lighting package) were also explicitly framed as part of the 50th anniversary celebration according to the park’s blog and social media posts.

And that’s not to mention, I don’t know, a giant new coaster in addition to a bunch of other permanent improvements to the park. I can’t imagine being upset about sweeping, long-term upgrades not “celebrating the park” enough. What better way to celebrate the park than improving it and adding a giant new coaster?

Bitter, maybe, but overcritical? Not really. They just spelled out everything in black and white. It's not a customer's responsibility to be "understanding" of behind the scenes things, The product is what matters.
