Considering they moved corporate to Charlotte, don't think that has anything to do with it...
It's true that they have offices in Charlotte but the deal that they reached in 2021 with the City Sandusky and the Ohio requires that they maintain a certain amount of corporate offices and headquarters in the city in exchange for causeway improvements and other benefits.

I just checked the KD job site for the food & beverage department. There are 10 positions currently open. Most are full time. The executive chef position is no longer there. It appears that KD has hired someone to fill that position. In addition, I saw a Facebook post where someone stated the park has a new chef in place. No information about the new chef was given.

Closing the job position doesn't mean that they have hired someone just that they are through the application portion.

It appears KD’s HR Instagram account leaked the news of KD’s new executive chef: Chef Maurice. If you zoom in on his jacket in this photo, his jacket says “Executive Chef”.

I’ve met Chef Maurice many times and had the chance to work with both him and Chef Denis at the park. This is fantastic news for anyone worried about how KD will carry on Denis’s legacy with him gone. Maurice was the park’s Executive Sous Chef under Denis, and he was Denis’s right-hand man. They were practically always together. Not only that, but Denis hand-picked him as his executive sous chef. He shares Denis’s energy, ambition, and culinary talent, and as someone who was also worried about what would happen to KD culinary without Denis, I can’t imagine a better choice for the park. This is great news.

I know this rumor is circulating WIDELY at this point so I'm going to leave the post above up.

Feel free to discuss or whatever, but everyone should be careful not to run afowl of our rule prohibiting personal attacks. That means no name calling, no personal condemnation, etc. If something really bad did happen, hopefully proof can be located.

If anyone has PROOF of what occurred, please message me. I don't want to publish the proof, but if I could say publicly that I had seen proof, that would be a gamechanger. I've heard from a handful of people claiming knowledge, but have yet to see proof.

I have heard he same rumors from before the job listing was announced but that could be a simple a someone speculating and pointing to one of the most common reasons for a termination.

I would say that the appointment of his assistant for promotion seems to support that what ever the reason for his departure it was a personal issue and not related to his vision for the park's food.

Got to eat at the park today for the first time since the culinary leadership change. Firehouse was delicious — the brisket is among the best I’ve had anywhere at that price point. Reminded me of the old Trappers Smokehouse days at BGW. And Grain & Grill was as delicious as it ever was. It’s been three whole months since Chef Denis left, so to me this bodes well for the fact that Chef Maurice is upholding similar standards for quality control for the park’s food. I was very impressed today and it has me hopeful that KD’s culinary is still in great hands.

Hopefully the park’s PR team will give us an official introduction to Chef Maurice soon, although I understand if they want to give it some time after the big leadership shake-up.
