The new queue theming is great much better than it was before
I went there today and I asked a staff, he said that they WILL be adding a video effect for the elevator soon and a mist effect. right now is the soft launch, so there will be more effects later.
It’s a soft launch 3 months after the ride was originally planned to open

Has anyone who has road managed to catch the story I could not for the life of me understand what the ride audio is saying. Also the audio playing inside of the elevator dose seem to imply that you’re supposed to be seeing something supporting that they plan on bringing back the screens.

they are actually gonna also add more effects before the elevator and raise the story volume as well. I talked to the ride operator yesterday after being stuck for 30 mins on the last ride of the day, so I had some time to chat, lol.
Did they give any sort of timeframe for when the added effects are expected to be ready?
No they did not. I have to ask them next time I go on it.
Here's a list of all of the still broken effects on the ride post-refurbishment
1. The misters around the ride sign and entrance pathway
2. The 2 fountains surrounding the ride entrance
3. The waterfall in the queue entrance room
4. The 2 screens in the queue line
5. The pillar in the middle of the outside part of the queue
6. The Misters on the lift hill
7. The fountain of water over the ride's first drop that would part for the ride vehicle.
8. The Water jets that people could pay for
9. The water jets that would shoot over the boat from the 2019 referb
10. The water effects in the room before the elevator
11. The elevator screens
12. The Water geyers after the 2nd splashdown
13. The on-ride photo station
14. The rides' themed lighting package/ The Atlantic Ignites show
The ride's landscaping is also still in terrible shape, with dead or dying plants and sightline issues. The ride is also still unfinished from the original 2004 renderings, with the 3rd tower, lift hill, and bridges. The ride has also been suffering reliability issues since its reopening.

Yeah, but Orlando's version didn't just reopen from a massive, highly-publicized, comically delayed referb which was supposedly meant to focus on enhancing the ride's story and effects.
Really feels like this project has been a spectacular failure. Trying to pitch this as cap-ex, "working" on it for nearly its entire advertised opening season, and seemingly delivering next to nothing is... a special kind of bad.

From what I heard the refurbishment was mainly to replace the rides operating system they decided to add effects but massively over promised
On the bright side, there's now an animated "eye" at the bottom of the elevator lift. It uses some kind of dot matrix LED (?) panel instead of a screen, which is... interesting... But still better than nothing!
I noticed last weekend all of the misters were turned off; many of them were actually on for the opening day. Hopefully that's not a permanent change. The door at the top of the lift was working before but wasn't this past Saturday. Also, the waterfall at the first drop is now totally off, whereas it was always on for opening day (it's supposed to be on and then shut off while boats pass underneath). The tvs in the queue are turned off now; before they were showing the 2019 queue video. Perhaps they're being updated with a new video?

I was there again yesterday and they are definitely working on the elevator now. They removed the eye effect which means it was temporal and the elevator is no longer pitch black. I could see some sort of white color that was transparent. They also fixed one of the water cannons and they made the chain lift audio link now. They also replaced the tv videos with generic text. Also, I am pretty sure that the mist and the waterfall is only during warm times because they usually always had those effects off after summer ended. The only things they need to fix now is: the rest of the water cannons, the elevator door, and the unsynced music at times. I also went on this a week before and it didn't have the water cannons working and the eye effect was still there. This means that these changes are very recent. It also explains why Journey was closed a few days ago. It seems as if they are working on the ride during weekdays or when the park is closed. Anyways, I'll be checking every week for updates as I really love looking at how slowly they are refurbishing this ride.
Someone posted a video in the pass holder page showing what looks like a bunch of new jets, sprayers, and/or lighting effects being installed around the turnaround point after the main drop. Maybe this means we're actually going to get a good deal of the things that were originally promised for this ride refresh?
Sorry for the double post, but here are a couple pictures of the progress from last weekend. Anyone care to speculate what these are? Looks like a fairly complex setup, so I'll be really curious to see what it all does. I think most if not all of the exposed piping and fixtures are new.
