I was at the park today and I saw from electric eel that the jellyfish aquarium has a full standby queue and fast pass line which makes me wonder if it is more than just a walkthrough aquarium also it looks like there’s been a little to no progress on the interior but the exterior is progressing

Are we potentially talking a wild arctic style experience, where they could have an attraction included in it?

Those signs are gorgeous! They look straight out of a SeaWorld park from 10+ years ago! This project is taking a lot of time, but I'm very excited to see the finished product. It's not something that will return gate clicks immediately, but it should be a great asset to the park for many years to come—hopefully a justification PRKS is beginning to see more validity in.

construction update from the tower
The right side of the building looks interesting. Is that scaffolding or an actual expansion of the building?
The series of pathways to the left seems mysterious too--what could this be for? It's adjacent and similar to the Electric Eel queue, but I don't know why that would need an expanded queue. It'd be a large queue for a flat ride if one were to be installed there, plus I'm not sure where one would fit in this configuration. And if it's a queue for Jewels of the Sea, then why is it so far away from the sign and tucked away to the side? Perhaps there's more to this project than we currently know.

Really makes you wonder how the construction of a jelly fish exhibit could have possibly gone THIS sideways. I understand that large salt water setups aren't a walk in the park, but this seems way beyond the realm of reasonable supply delay.
If it went this sideways and it's not construction I wouldn't be shocked if the saltwater setup is a struggle. But I also wonder if maybe it's getting the jelly fish. Last time National Aquarium in BMore had that and I was there about 1/3 of the tanks were empty and the marine biologist said that jelly fish actually don't transport as well as you would think and were hard to get it and keep alive. That's despite them being rather durable creatures.

Never occurred to me that acquiring the jellyfish themselves could be an obstacle. That would explain why we still don't know an opening date or even an opening year despite the exhibit looking mostly finished for months now aside from the tanks. Still, not a good look to be opening nothing for the park's 60th anniversary year--imagine how that'll look on the photo wall for the 70th anniversary 💀

That's unfortunate, but at least now we have a general timeframe for when it's expected to open. I'm glad they chose to delay the opening rather than just call it done with whatever they had. This plus the JTA refurb should make 2025 a good year for SWSD 🙂

Walls have come down on the area surrounding the exhibit. It's nicely landscaped and features some cool jellyfish artwork, though I don't fully understand why the space is laid out as a big courtyard with random pathways off to the side. There's also some cool area music based on the Submarine Quest soundtrack. IMG_20241117_140615.jpg IMG_20241117_142803.jpg IMG_20241117_142849.jpg

There's a tiny little printed sign on the wall blocking the entrance lol
