Lore

In the early 1900s, Scottish businessman Hiram S. McTavish opened McTavish Steel Mill, a direct competitor to Bethlehem Steel Company. Greed dictated McTavish’s every move, and he was well known to prioritize profits above people.

With an eye on maximizing output, McTavish created a massive hauler he dubbed “Iron Menace,” a device the steel industry had never seen. The rail transporter moved workers and ore at record volumes and dizzying speeds.

Suddenly the greedy steel baron mysteriously disappeared—no one knows how or where. Shortly after, McTavish Steel Mill closed. All that remains today are the mill’s decrepit shell, rusty relics and wild tales of the owner’s whereabouts.

Anyway, back on topic: I'm definitely getting Jungle X-style lore vibes from this project so far which, needless to say, is tremendously exciting. Tying a haunt house into the promotion of a new attraction is also absolutely brilliant and I'm surprised we don't see it more often. I wasn't planning to go to Dorney this year, but an excellent-looking new house themed to next year's coaster could actually make me make the drive this fall...
I believe there is a tie in the theming to the ghost town section of Knotts Berry Farm

Iron Menace was not the name I expected at all. Also man Cedar Fair LOVES their burnt orange Dive coasters.

I guess we should add “Cedar Fair builds a dive that isn’t burnt orange” to our “things that won’t happen” bingo cards. But I digress I couldn’t be happier for Dorney Park. I only went ever in 2010 and this is the first new coaster they’ve gotten since and it’s 2024. Insane, I will likely go there close to the opening of the new ride for sure and may get 2-3 dorney visits in next year since my uncle lives close by. Dorney will have a fun top 5 in their lineup with 3 custom B&Ms, the Morgan, and the impulse as headliners. I feel like the park would get a lot more love in general if it wasn’t flanked on its sides by two of the best coaster lineups out there.

Echoing others, I love that the inclined loop theory came true. The beyond vertical drop and inclined loop make this layout in my opinion.

Would I have liked to have seen another element or two? For sure. Is this still an excellent, far-above-par addition for Dorney as-is? Very much so—especially since it managed to be the first dive in the region.

Very intrigued by the theming and lore here still—concept art doesn't show much, but hopefully the elaborate lore in the marketing is paid off in the final product.

Weakest point of this announcement for me is definitely the name. Doesn't really mean anything, doesn't look great, doesn't sound great—just sorta meh. It'll be fine—it isn't like Top Thrill 2 level or anything—just hoped for better branding.

Looks great, can't wait to ride it. 7-across seating is also very interesting, with the middle seat being centered on the track like Dr. Diabolical's Cliffhanger. Also encouraging is the overflow queue, although Dorney rarely gets packed from my experience.

They fixed the path layout issue with Stinger, where the entrance obscured the bathrooms and Flyers further down the midway, that led to a quiet dead-end. I know the old Asylum/Enigma haunted house is also being redesigned to fit the theme of this, and it could be a cool mini-themed land... to, uh, Industry. Bonus points if they play Billy Joel on the area loop.

Just like Hersheypark with Wildcat's Revenge, I think they're set for big coasters once this is built/opened. For 2025, I'd like to see them go back into their park archives and rebuild Journey to the Center of the Earth (1960-1993) as an interactive Sally dark ride. Could fit nicely up where the Carousel Grove is (since the Chance Carousel is removed, make that the entrance in front of the Ferris Wheel and reuse the structure). But that's just my own concept. Not sure what else they need, beyond family attractions.

Can you elaborate? Not doubting you or anything, just want to understand the reference.
Allentown and Bethlehem was a major steel and iron industry in the 50’s. They produced the I beams for places like MSG, Chrysler Building, Empire State Building, US Warships, Golden Gate Bridge in the area. In the areas there’s also a lot of urban legends of ghosts and supernatural, some of them having some satanic like connections.

The name kinda pulls those two things together into one.

Oh, yeah, to be clear, I think the theme is a great fit for Dorney—totally get that connection.

Just feels like there are much better names to convey that theme than "Iron Menace" which sounds like some generic Six Flags RMC conversion, not a defunct ironworking plant.

I don't think it's out of the question that we could see more theming in the final product. The theming foundations in the blueprints aren't in this concept, but idk if they'd bother rendering that stuff. Hope we see some more stuff in the final product but this looks better than most coasters at other parks nearby

I don’t have the issue with that. Personally I think it’s a good nod to all of that. I think it’s cool it’s near Steel Force and Possessed. I think they could and should make the whole area back there a “Ghosts of Allentown” thing.
