I got a ride in on each car. Back is my favorite. Whippier by a good amount. Great ride and addition to BGT.

Back in car on way BACK to SWO for an hour or two, just planning on one or two rides on each of the four. After that, drive about halfway home to VA!

This was a crazy awesome ride. I was in the back row and planted my legs against the leg restraints and feet firmly on the floor and didn't hold on. The air on the first drop was awesome. Without holding on but with feet firmly down you totally fly out of your seat until settling against the restraints. I felt as as if I were almost standing up.. it was better than my best ride on Apollo's Chariot in that respect.

I kept this strategy for the entire ride and experienced some mildly uncomfortable banging between my legs and the leg restraints but I didn't incur any bruising. I feel like effort was worth it as I was flying through unanticipated turns very smoothly with subsequent bursts of air.

Despite the relative lack of theming, I enjoyed this more than Velocicoaster. And the front car of this coaster is so sweet.

Alright y'all,

I am heading down with a group for Spring Break to FL and we are going to BGT. Unfortunately, we are down during the week that Iron Gwazi opens but will likely have to go sometime between the 7-10th of March. We already have some standard tickets that we have to use but were also looking into the fun cards for the 2 days that are labelled as preview days. So with that, I wanted to ask:

1. How have the previews been working? Are they sticklers for who has the passes, or are you likely able to get a ride in even if you aren't a passholder?

2. Are they still doing some soft-openings the days that are not marked? (i.e, the 8th/9th of March that are sandwiched between the 2 "Fun Card" days)?

3. Would they let a group go in if some have passes and others do not?

And for some context- we are college students that got access to a few free tickets and are splitting the costs of the rest. We will try to get fun cards so we can attend those days but I want to get a feel for how BGT is running this show and if it is even worth it to have some fun cards and some not. Seems a lot more strict than when Velocicoaster was just essentially open for months before the official date. Thanks everyone!

The ride has been operating most days if possible. They have the ride plaza blocked off with a single entry/exit point. All guests are checked at this point. I'm sure there are ways to cheat/Karen the system, but all guests are meant to have the proper credentials. So I would say the fun cards are the safest bet.

Haven't ridden Steve, but judging by what others have said it seems like it comes up to personal preference. IG appears to be much more re-ridable with floatier airtime elements, while Steve has more violent airtime and I think is almost twice as long as IG. So seems like they are both extremely close but goes down to what you want in a ride.

I'm kind of surprised this doesn't occur more often.

RMC most definitely checks for clearance envelopes when they build rides. The issue I've noticed several times on their rides is, what they don't seem to factor in is the extra few inches of that a body can stretch during an airtime moment. In this case, the beams in question were here, in the middle of the station fly-by wave turn thing. Just little extensions sticking up through the metal ledgers, not any structural member.

I believe it's a little bit of camera trickery that makes it look that close, but I don't think you would be able to touch the beams if that whole curve wasn't throwing you out of the seat.

Same thing can be applied to their inversions. I've personally whacked a finger on this extension beam on Twisted Timbers:

I definitely couldn't touch that if the train were right side up, but because I'm hanging upside down there, I can feel myself stretch further than the envelope accounts for. Same can happen if you get room between your lap & lap bar.

So yeah, if you're on the taller side (6'+), just watch your hands during inversions & airtime moments 😄

Makes me question more what kind of rider RMC is designing their rides for and what construction process they use where they regularly leave these sorts of potential hit points for riders. Should RMC be taking more care in their construction process? Should they start instructing parks to enforce a maximum height restriction?

Well, they'd fit in with us then. Half of my friends can't ride Pantheon, no matter what tricks they try to employ.

Honestly, considering how much I daydream about re-riding Iron Gwazi, I'm hoping it's such a draw down there at BGT that BGW has to figure out a way to work with them. More daydreaming, I know....
