Yes, just "souvenirs"; it's a good thing that Kings Dominion is giving those two stores new names and hopefully new signs.
International Street seems to have been made more "international" this season. In addition to the beautiful instrumental music from various film scores, quite a few songs have been added to the area's soundtrack, representing the music of different European countries. I recognized German oompah music, some classical Italian music, and French accordion music, just to name a few. It really added a new level of "international" to International Street.
They also added this pretty new planter structure on the Berserker side of the fountains.

That's wonderful to hear Joe, International Street had an already beautiful soundtrack in it's area but adding European music like the ones you just described makes it even more wonderful.

I'm happy to report that the normal soundtrack had returned by the end of the evening. Nicole posed an interesting and plausible theory: during the offseason, the park plays normal radio music over the speakers for cast members, so it's possible they forgot to switch the music back over until after the park opened.
I also heard that they play rock music for the employees, while the park is closed to guests, even during the season. So, I am even more convinced that someone forgot to switch the soundtrack over from live radio.
I heard the Waltz of the Flowers from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker on International Street tonight. It was lovely.
Lots of construction work is going on near the Grande Bandstand at the moment. It looks like some major expansion work is in progress, as the stage has been significantly widened (spilling into the now partly-demolished planters on either side of the old stage) and stretching out into the pathway. From the scope of the construction, it looks like this work is more than just the minor set building that occurs before the park debuts its new pop show each May, but rather something more permanent.
It wouldn't surprise me if the expanded stage is being built to accommodate one of the new WinterFest shows, since the Christmas show scheduled for the Bandstand looked too large for the old stage, based on how it has been staged at other Cedar Fair parks.
