Apparently an accident happened at Goliath and the park has closed early. Will update as we hear more.

Edit: Police radio call. Somebody fell off of Goliath. Three people involved.

Update: One dead, two others injured. Apparently the victim hit two others as they fell.

I wish I could say I was totally shocked but my experience in August with the park honestly left me wondering if something like this was going to happen at some point as I was had at least two innocents where I had to tell ride ops that they hadn't checked the restraint.

That was my initial reaction as well. If it were gonna happen anywhere it was destined to be here

I fear this may be the end of John Reilly as CEO. I like the guy and I don't think any of this is his fault, but with the stock price continuing to plummet along with multiple major incidents/impending lawsuits both with this and the whole X2 situation I feel shareholders may act and push him out. I think at this point bankruptcy is a when instead of an if.

Just not the news the company needed to hear right now. Feel terrible for those involved.

Obviously we need to wait to see what the actual cause of this is but my instinct tells me Six Flags is at fault. That park is almost famously lax when it comes to safety regulations now and I’m not surprised at all this is the park it happened. Keeping in mind that an incident like this has never happened on a B&M and I just can’t imagine it’s the manufacturer at fault.

The company really does feel like a sinking ship right now.

I think it's to soon to jump to some of the conclusions that are being jumped to here. There is always the possibility that we could be looking at a Ride of Steel type incident as just one example. That said I imagine we are likely to see seatbelts coming to all B&M hypers in zhe near future as s resultbof this.

Just for the record, Apollo’s Chariot at BGW is closed today.
I’d imagine a Worldwide closure of all B&M Hypers and Gigas until further notice.

Cause how the hell do you fall off a B&M Hyper?

Edit: Sorry if this seems insensitive, I’m just baffled at how the hell this could happen, when clamshell restraints have been tested and proven to be one of the safest restraints on coasters

Absolutely tragic! Unlike some of the other incidents in recent times, this is one that absolutely should not even be possible to happen.

There's far too many possibilities and far too little information to even guess at the root cause of this yet, but I sense it's going to have some pretty major ramifications for the industry.

Even then, the clamshell should be enough to hold you in.

Im really sensing a ride op fucked up somewhere. And if that’s the case, somebody should go to jail.
It's entirely possible. I'm also worried about the maintenance department.

That ride ain’t ever gonna see the light of the day. John Riley ain’t ever gonna see his office again. And seatbelts don’t do shit. They’re simply there for insurance, and they would not have saved his life.
