Well, despite the entertainment goofs(putting it lightly) people still flock to the park, which means they will stay somewhat financially stable. Plus with new rides and a knack for good rides/additions, it means that we can just sit there, hibernate until scott leaves, winter clears, and a bright new day sufaces...and if we see the shadow of scott, its six more weeks of sparkles...

Ok so don't know if should post this here or just start a new thread. Since Illuminights isn't returning for 2014(or so it's said). What type of (I ll use this name),2014 BGW Summer Night Celebration ideas or events would you all like to see happen or possibly happen?

One thing I would enjoy and think could be unique and even draw more people to the park, would be an Imaginique type show again, and or street performance cirque type shows in each country that would lead up to an Imaginique type of show as a Finale.

Like even go back to the roots of the gardens. Each country could have performance artist to do sneak peeks of their act and those acts would than perform in the Main Event show followed by fireworks and laser show. I don't think park needs fireworks every night like illuminights had. You can have a great show with pyrotechnic effects.

Scott Gasparich, if you're reading this, please take not that GLITTER is not on that list^!

Honestly, I wish they could do some sort of patriotic theme to tie in with Fourth of July. Remember the Here's to the Heroes bridge (as I called it, it's now just the San Marco bridge)? That was an uplifting, wonderful way to honor the season. While that seems to tie in more with Anhueser-Busch more, I would be interested in some sort of park-wide veterans celebration. Simple marching bands, a decked-out San Marco bridge, some American flags, and fireworks would make the park that much more special to me.

Of course, an all-American theme throughout the countries of Europe would certainly generate some hate among these boards. Also, Kings Dominion already does a much more subtle celebration for Fourth of July, so this may not work.

Just what I think would be cool! :)

For what it is worth, fireworks bore me. I can take or leave them.

I think that there should be some kind of culinary component to whatever Summer event they create.

But can I ask, why do we need a Summer event? When is the Regular Season? We have F&WF in the Spring (I think it should be earlier, BTW, when it is less hot.) We have HOS in the Fall, and CT in the Winter. When do we get Just Park?

Does something like Illuminights really pull in crowds at a regional park? I don't recall ever thinking, "It is July, but I will only go to the nearby theme park, if they create a special event." The park in and of itself for most people already is a special event for their family or group of friends. A Summer event just seems like gilding the lily to me. And it feels as if they are selling the intrinsic value of the park short with this attitude. It is almost as if the management doesn’t think BGW is good enough to stand on its own merits and must need some kind of Used Car Lot kind of enticement to draw in customers.

Wow. Two soapboxes in one morning. And no tea yet, either.

I don't find anything wrong if all special events were limited to just weekends, Christmas Town being the exception. It does give you more time to admire the park for itself on the weekdays.

I would think it a better use of their efforts to save the money and work of a new Illuminights-style event, and just up the quality of the experience in general. Add some more streetmostphere: strolling acts, buskers, magicians, musicians, characters, etc. Not that pricey, but goes a long way on theme/experience making. Small personal experiences are better than larger group ones at a park like BGW, in my opinion.

...,magicians,...

I love your thought process! :p

When I read that, all I read was, "Blah blah blah blah, blah, blah, magicians, blah, blah, blah! :p

Why not bring in , for Festa Italia or even San Marco, some acrobats, fire eaters/breathers, and jesters, etc. One big Carnival!
