RE: IllumiNights 2012

The chair stacking was neat, but I guess it just wasn't my thing.

Not disagreeing, but I'm going to use your comment as a sounding board. Most people seem to refer to it as a chair stacking act, but I enjoyed it because of the overall performance, most especially the mime who tied it all together with his silent banter. The chair stacking acrobat is amazing, but the relationship between the mime, the dancers, and the acrobat is what appealed to me; his humor, wit, and personality along with that of the other performers. It was the one Illuminights show that had the most heart and soul and relatability because of the characters.

RE: IllumiNights 2012

With the two girls there dancing and lifting up their dresses, I can be certain that my entire focus was on the chair stacking.

RE: IllumiNights 2012

^Actually, without a 7pm show, it's quite impossible to see all 4 shows if you don't get there by 5:00, isn't it?

Anyway, I thought Voila was a HUGE improvement over the parade last year. I hate parades in parks.

I also really love Jardino Magico.

All that to say, I fully agree with what

Personally, I'd rather see them scrap Illuminights all together and spend that money on adding a new show to RPT and just some general "street entertainment" in each country, throughout the whole season. Maybe fireworks on the weekends or something? I just don't think Illuminights is that powerful of a "draw" to the park and that money could be better spent on improving the overall entertainment experience throughout the park

Someone was stacking chairs?

RE: IllumiNights 2012

Is it possible that BG is thinking that since RPT has limited space, it's better to do the smaller shows so people are given multiple chances to see them instead of either waiting in a line to see the big show or possibly missing it altogether?

RE: IllumiNights 2012

^I think part of the theory behind something like Illuminights is that it is purposefully too much to see in one night, the idea being that people will have to come back multiple times to see it all.

RE: IllumiNights 2012

DoctorMoneyMD, I couldn't agree more about Imaginique. I think it's quite possibly the best show I've seen at Busch Gardens. Few theme parks put on shows like Imaginique that aren't named Disney. I miss it every time I walk by RPT.

If I had my ideal IllumiNights for 2012, there would be an illuminated water show on the Rhine River analogous to World of Color at Disney. All of the countries would have a part in the show, and it could end in fireworks. Now that would be a draw. The name wouldn't even have to be changed. It's perfect.

But it won't happen.

I thought just the opposite. I was very disappointed to see the parade leave. I really like parades in parks. I found Voila to be quite irritating because of the excessive use of the stupid whistle of the mime.

I wrote the park back in 2010 before that illuminights ended and suggested just that, but I think they need the water for the cruises.

RE: IllumiNights 2012

I think that a show of that caliber would make people say, "What Rhine River Cruises?" And they can still run them during the day.

RE: IllumiNights 2012

Great idea for a light show on the Rhine OOPs wait a minute Where is everyone going to watch from?
Sorry no light show just not enough space to view.

RE: IllumiNights 2012

They could use pompeii for a water show. It wouldn't be that grand, but they could shut down pompeii for a few minutes each hour to do it. There would be plenty of viewing space.

Installation of a fountain somewhere similar to EPCOT would be on point. Smaller scale of course.

It's not like Disney's California Adventure had the space either, but so many people want to see it, that they put up with the crap to watch it. DCA doesn't even offer any seating, and that's with having a FastPass for the show.

RE: IllumiNights 2012

its still impractical. spending millions on a show only a few thousand guest can even see and one that will be so costly itll only be run once a night... They need a new GOOD show in the rpt.

RE: IllumiNights 2012 Rumors

Personally, Imaginique was the best absolutely. I love the World of Color idea at BGW. It sounds great. However I would prefer Imaginique with its own mini-fireworks than Illuminights.

EDIT: Illuminights costumes were being sold. I also noticed some Gardino Magico costumes for sale. Perhaps they may be willing to make new costumes?

Sold? Where? I want one!

RE: IllumiNights 2012 Rumors

They have Entertainment sales for employees only throughout the year. They sell of mostly things they haven't used in forever or do not plan to use any time soon.
