You guys are awesome :)
Thanks!

Will take advantage of having 2 nights there (Fri and Sat) and hopefully get to see everything!

Our first day we won't be able to ride the big 3 coasters (8 year old daughter isn't tall enough, 9 year old wont go by himself), so that will open more time. The second day we will be meeting friends, so we wil be able to do more rides, and less shows!

Are you on Twitter? We'll be at the park tomorrow night. If you wanted to touch base, my 8 year old would be happy to ride the coasters with yours :) I check in all the time on foursquare and post it to my Twitter account @BGVAtips so you'd pretty much be able to see where we are at most times.

Another tip: You can hit the 5:30 Celtic Fyre or the 5:30 Oktoberfest show then you'd be right in Ireland or the Festhaus for their 6:00 Illuminights show. Same with the 7:30 Mix it Up and the 8:00 San Marco show.

Awesome! I LOVE details, and have written your tips down!

I do have a Twitter acct (although I don't think I have ever actually tweeted :)), but I have the app on my phone. I have NO idea what four square is! I did find you and am now following (? <- right term?) you!

But I would love the chance to let my guy ride at least Loch Ness- so meeting up sounds like a great idea! Thanks!

Foursquare is a location "check in" app. When I check in at different spots around the park it will post it to Twitter. So you can kind of see where I am and when most of the time. If you send a tweet and mention @BGVAtips in the tweet I'll get a notification, so you can message me that way. My other Twitter account is @aaroncorasdad if you'd like to follow that too. My profile pic on that account is a pic of me and my kids so you can see what I look like. I'm also 6'5" and will be wearing a denim Busch Gardens baseball cap (and probably pushing a pink stroller) so I should be easy to spot ;)

You should hit up Loch Ness last, right after the fireworks. There is hardly a line and a high chance of being on the last train of the day which is always fun...I'll be working there tomorrow =)

@Gropplo's AlpenMonster- We will definitely go ride Loch Ness then and try to find you!!

@Shafor- Perfect! We won't be getting to BG until around 11:00 today, but will try to find you when we get there!! My pic is on my Twitter- And I will be the one looking really tired while the 8 and 9 year olds run me ragged :)

Perfect weekend at BG! Thank you Shafor for all the amazing tips and help! Loved getting to meet your sweet family!

We couldnt have lucked out more with Friday's crowds... It was so empty and relaxing! Loved all of the shows- Kids favorite was the cuckoo clock, mine was Italy... Saturday started off slow, but was pretty crowded by night time.

Fireworks were beautiful on Friday, but spectacular on Saturday!

Stupid question coming up, but I didn't go this weekend last year--Are there going to be double fireworks tonight? Like the regular set for Illumininights and a separate set for the 4th?

I was great meeting you guys too. Sorry we didn't cross paths last night. Crowded days like that are always an adventure for us...

I went sunday as well. The fireworks were really good. I thought they way the handle the italy bridge kind of silly. I understand they have to clear the bridge, but I'm not walking all the way around the park to ride alpengeist. I felt like on the bridge was cleared off, they could just let the rest of the people that were waiting around back into Oktoberfest and then let the traffic go the other way. I understand they had to deal with some sort of crowd control issues, but it didn't make sense to keep the 20-30 of us just staying at the end of the bridge for 15-20 minutes.

Anyways... That guy stacking chairs was very impressive in Voila. I wish they didn't have that break at 7pm. Not a very forgiving schedule if you miss one.

Is anyone going to post some good photos of the decor for illumiNights? Also what all on the illumiNights 2011 CD?

I have been in contact with the company Busch Gardens bought there illuminated illuminights sign a that go on the lamp posts and they told be each sign it's self are 295 dollars.

I went two weekends ago, go figures I pick the day it pours cats and dogs. But besides that the park was almost empty. I feel like they could've added more decerations in my opinion.

Well, folks, I went Monday 6/27 for the first night of Illuminights 2011...

I didn't get to see the 2010 performance in San Marco (Giardino Magico), but I did have the opportunity to see it this year - it was good. The enormous metal butterflies are beautiful, and the butterfly-shaped confetti at the end is a nice touch.

Clocktoberfest has a pre-show this year, utilizing the new maypole out front. The performers' costumes are bright and whimsical, and they complement the existing show nicely.

The Legend of Killarney hasn't really changed; it's the same insipid dialog with references to online dating and Harry Potter, and it still falls flat for me. The puppets are still lovely, but are in need of a better piece to perform in. The smaller fairies that were featured in the 2010 finale were nowhere to be seen that night...

And then there's Aquitaine. At the passholder discount weekend earlier this year, we were delighted to see the wider path in the heart of the village, and naturally thought it was to provide better flow to our favorite Illuminights show, The Parisian Promenade... This year's show is no more than a Golden Dragon Acrobats-style chair-stacking piece. After the whimsical promenade of 2010, no amount of tacky fuchsia tinsel (and there is a LOT of it) can compete with last year's offering.

Overall, this year looked very much like a Christmas event as tinsel garlands were EVERYWHERE. I was really hoping that this year's shows would build upon last year's foundation, rather than be a pared-down version with unnecessary added sparkle... If I remember correctly, the performances last year were hourly from 5 to 9, which enabled us to either a. skip the hour of your choice for dinner, or b. take in your favorite show a second time; this year, the show times were 5, 6, 8 and 9.

Last year, I wanted to make a second trip before Illuminights was over. This year, my eyes are already on Howl-O-Scream.
