If I'm correct; Intamin is also designing a single-rail coaster. Rumor has it; that the design will also feature launches. They may already have a coaster in operation. Either way; it would be a strong approach to see KD replace the long loved Intamin launch, with a brand new Intamin launch. Again; I'd love to see them reconstruct an impressive mountain and do the Volcano theme, again.

When I think of a Volcano style ride; I think of the amount of space needed to make it good. Correct me if I'm wrong; but does Anaconda sit on more land than Volcano? If it does; I'd say remove Anaconda for the brand new Intamin Single-Rail design. If there is enough space; this could create a wild experience. I've seen some pretty neat Planet Coaster/Roller Coaster Tycoon creations that featured dueling Singe-Rail coasters. To see KD take on this challenge would be amazing. As for the ride theme, I'd stick with the snake theme and have two different types of snaked dueling around a Volcano structure.

So that just means they're just catching up to the hiatus BGW used to have with Intamin - and the funny thing is they both had issues with previous installations of splash boats.

I'm guessing the change is more about the difference of costs vs return on Intamin proposed rides and not so much that there's any actual beef with Intamin as a whole as BGW had.

This photo was taken with a zoom on Doswell Rd just letting everyone know...

Anyways, this is what the current state of the Volcano site looks like. That white tarp that’s on Avalanche and the building nearby has been there since at least March, not really sure what’s going on with that maybe related to the demolition of the mountain. Crews are actively driving through to move pieces for the free spin. No work was seen on the site of Volcano and it appears the site and station is in essentially the same state as last year.

The last two comments could use further explanation.

@Gavin -- of course they could have "fixed" it but no one was going to take a fall to preserve a money pit. However, if you are saying the ride never fully met their "high standards" then I agree. And, the more they looked at the actual ride condition, the worse it got.

Thanks for taking the time to get the photo.

That concrete building stood just inside the mountain. I have seen interior photos of the building (not sure if it was on this site or elsewhere). It housed what looked like electrical distribution equipment. Not sure if it held any actual ride control systems (For Volcano or the previous rides in the "Lost World" complex).

I'm guessing the tarps on the roof are to stop leaks when it rains. Since the structure was within the mountain itself, maybe the roof was not built as robust as if it sat totally out in the open. Also, that building is about 42 years old; so the leaking might be simply due to age.

I just took another look at the photo and I see part of the roof is bright white. Maybe KD is placing a new membrane style roof on it? Either in a liquid, painted on form or a thin, pliable roll/sheet? If so, maybe the roof has to be kept dry until the material dries/cures.

In any case, that building and the 2 story queue house are the only stuctures left standing after the demo. Seems KD wants to repurpose them for something in the future.

The only other possibilities for the tarps on the building is that KD is painting Avalanche and doesn't want paint on the roof of the building.

Also, if this photo was taken on the same day as the photos of the free spin track pieces in the parking lot, then it looks like this ride is NOT being installed on the Volcano site.

The 4D coaster is literally going in Crypts spot. There's no other filings that I've found for it to be anywhere but there. And given the governmental red tape of getting things like that approved in the first place, they can't just move it without going through this process. Moving it without that approval would result in incredibly massive fines, and potential roadblocks in installing future attractions.

As for Volcano replacement ideas, I was thinking about something I brought up in the thread on the S&S coaster. What if they used the Volcano area as a plaza to get to an experience like Cedar Point was set to open this year with Forbidden Frontier? So where Volcano was gets some type of small coaster, and 2-3 flats with a shop, and a big welcome plaza. The plaza leads you to an entrance to get onto massive safari jeeps (think what Disney uses in AK) that take you behind FoF and I-305 into the old safari area. There you unload and go into a new welcome's plaza, and instead of being frontier themed, it's the same thing but themed to jungles. Especially if they can do something like that with no uncharge, I think it could be a great boon for the park. Having that area be mostly shops, food, and experiences can be a huge ROI for the park, open up extra space for guests in the park, and really cool experience to have it that offset from the rest of the park.

For a volcano replacement I would probably want a s&s air launch or a gerstlauer infinity.

Given how things went with Hypersonic XLC I don't think KD would try a second time for an S&S air launch

I definitely don’t think it’s a likely candidate, but I also don’t think that has anything to do with Hypersonic—KD is a very different park and S&S is a very different now. Time heals all wounds—especially when so much has evolved on both sides.

Too true. BGW: Intamin; Six Flags: Premier. Partial list.

In my opinion, I could see a gerstlauer infinity/euro fighter or the new Launched axis coaster in volcanos spot. I also think Kd needs a hyper coaster badly, It would round out the parks lineup perfectly. so sense I know Mack and b&m are probably out of the question because of cost, I could see a 215ft Vekoma or a raptor in the dinosaurs alive area to even out the parks sky line. And sense it would be a vekoma or raptor it will be very different from BGWs so the gp can’t call it a rip-off of Apollo’s chariot.

Saying KD wouldn't get a air launch after their experience is like saying KI wouldn't get another suspended coaster after The Bat -- the original one that is. Why not get the benefit from paying a price in the model's development? If it's a good ride, the right ride, of course.

Ironically to that argument, a suspended is more like the other coaster they need other than a kick-ass launcher. I think the role of the big launch coaster in the parks that have or had them is not to be the best ride, but still to be the one you have to ride, and can make for a finale to your experience.

P.S. if their main goal was to clearly beat Carowinds, B&M hyper all the way.

Has anyone see Fury at Bobbejaanland? Riders get to vote whether they want to experience the ride forwards or backwards. Whatever the majority result is; is what the experience will be. For an idea like this; Cedar Fair would really have to make it an experience like no other. This may require making the ride a longer course. Not sure if Volcano's land can grant this wish. Anaconda's lake can. For now, I will just link the video and you all can decide how to make this a much more intense experience at KD.
