Yea, I can’t see Grizzly up next. Too much work has been done and it’s in a very empty part of the park. Where Anaconda is has a lot going on, and while it would be missed, there’s plenty around it to make up for it missing. I really think that Grizzly needs new trains more than continued retracking work.

I have a theory that they're going to pull Anaconda and swap in Flight Deck from CGA in the same spot
This would seem extremely complex considering new footers would have to be placed in the lake for a rather old ride that may not have significant service life yet.

I agree it would take some engineering to pull it off, and I'm not sure about how long it's expected to be a viable ride, but it still rides like it's brand new. But if they're going to replace the Anaconda, they're goin to have to use some new footers/infrastructure regardless.

I’m curious.
I might get some hate for this.
We have seen intamin dip their toes back into the inverted launch coaster category again. Could we see KD build another one to replace volcano and give it a jungle theme? If you’re curious, I’m referencing the Intamin Dueling Dragons in China.

The reason I suggest this is because if it’s done right, with the intricate detail of Jungle X, it gives KD back an inverted coaster and says a big middle finger to bgw by making it launch. Plus, we know the significance of volcano and how it blasted you out of a volcano. They could do something similar and do like a small darkride section within a temple and then it blasts you out of the temple into an extensive layout with lots of footchoppers, lots of inversions, a midcourse for capacity, and even a second launch if they wanted it.

While yes I understand that CF/KD would be hesitant to add an Intamin, especially after the issues volcano had, I feel it would be a great addition. The newer intamins seem to have less issues than the older ones.

When wind doesn’t shut them down every 5 minutes.

I would love to see another Intamin invert..... I just really don't think CF is going to do it -- honestly, with the way things played out with Volcano's demise I wouldn't be surprised it Intamin wouldn't want to work with CF again on a new project.

I'm not talking about the rides themselves. I'm talking about the drama in closing and the arguments that went on where CF was expecting Intamin to do stuff for free and then when they said no they backed out of the controls upgrade contract and demolished the ride. I think over the years all of those rides were a lot better than people give them credit for. They all certainly had numerous issues but you have to remember how bleeding edge they were not to mention they really were pretty stable for the majority of their lifespan.

This would be amazing but, i think cedar fair has a long while before they work with intamin again, I hope they do work together again eventually, they’d be a powerhouse. But that just aint happening for a while.

Sooo a couple years ago before anyone knew about Tumbili or jungle X I had made a concept surrounding the thematic aspect of what I wanted the replacement to be, I had posted the idea in the comments of someone’s yt video but I cant seem to find it. Anyways DISCLAIMER I’m well aware that the replacement will more than likely be themed to one of the animals they have left in the JX area, this is just something fun I made up a while back and am now posting it here to liven up this thread cause I’m bored lol.

But starting off I wanted the replacement to pay homage to volcano not just with the coaster type or layout but with the storyline, I wanted the legacy of volcano to live on which meant I wanted the coasters to be connected some how so we need a story to tell us what happened to volcano… where did it go and why is it gone, and how is this new one connected to it? Well here’s why… “A few years ago today(whenever opening day would be) marks the day volcano would erupt for the last time… the eruption was so big that it caused the mountain to explode/collapse and wipe out all the surrounding villages for miles… no mountain meant that rushing hot lava was left spilling out of the ground spreading throughout the land leaving it inhabitable for many years.” The name of the ride would be “MAGMA Volcanos Demise” as far as the ride model it would be a multi launching model of either Vekoma, S&S, or Gerstlauer. the track would be burgundy and the supports black. As far as the front of the trains they would have that cracked magma rock look with bright orange and red in between the cracks, and have the word Magma on it. The station would be in a cave or remanence of a collapsed mountain. And for the layout I don’t have anything specific, it would have at least two launches and a heart line roll through the station like lech coaster. for theming throughout the layout the ride would go through tunnels pass and go over rock work meander through rocky trenches, Some of the rocks could look and glow red like magma and some spit out fire like real lava does.

Umm thank you if you’ve made it this far lmao… this is like a pipe dream now that we know it’s most likely gonna be themed to an animal, but like I sad this is just something fun i wanted to post. Now that I think about it It wasn’t all that creative just kinda put 2 and 2 together but it’s a perfect concept in my head and it got me hype lol, but I hope I sparked some creative minds I’d like to read anyone else’s concept or if you would like to add on to mine feel free cause I’m boredddd. I mostly ever see people say what coaster model they want and not what kinda theme or story line they would like it to have so this was my take on that.

I like the idea. I kind of hoped we'd get a ride called "Caldera: The Magma Chaser" to pay homage to Volcano: The Blast Coaster - It would be relatively short in height, Multi-launched, and built into an artificial caldera bowl, with lots of low-to the-ground inversions, twists, etc, themed around a recently-exploded Volcano.

Believe me, the theming is what makes that ride what it is. I wouldn't dare separate FLY from what makes it good. Phantasialand is in that handful of parks capable of pulling off that kind of ride. Even with the amazing effort that's still going into Jungle X, I find it hard to believe Kings Dominion would execute it anywhere close. I wouldn't expect just "coaster in a field", but far closer to that than the theming needed to "do it right".

Plus, it really wasn't the most exciting ride in the world. What made it cool was, again, the ridiculous theming and the full experience. Stripping that away defeats the purpose of the ride model IMO.

Let me rephrase that: what if another amusement park built a flying launch coaster from Vekoma with a larger scale track layout? Plus throwing in thematic elements for the station, queue line, and at some points during the layout. Would Kings Dominion be able to afford something along those lines?

Also, as much as the coaster itself may not be the most exciting ride (with the theming making up for that), Phantasialand had a small footprint and height restrictions to work with. That makes me wonder what a Vekoma FLC could do in a larger space. Would it offer a thrilling experience for everyone, or would it be too intense for the general public? Not saying Volcano's old stomping grounds are the largest (but still big) plot in the world, but Kings Dominion doesn't have to literally be the next park to install one of these.
