Sure, but let's not encourage that behavior...
I think unfortunately that limits the creativity of the park. I’d rather see new and creative things than the same theme we’ve seen before because there’s only so many themes to tie in German and Italian locations. The terror-tories are one thing, but I don’t think the houses have to be as tied in, especially if you have to leave the hamlet to get to them (Black Forest park houses for example) . We can only do a house of vampires, witches, werewolves, and clowns enough times before it is old.

Key word: imagination.

Their challenge is to take whatever imaginative design and ensure it's scary, fun, safe, has proper capacity, isn't too expensive to build and operate, and can be widely enjoyed without guests needing a class in the subject matter to understand it.

I feel there's tons of European superstitions and stories they could play off of to break out of their creative rut, but they're limited by one or more of the aforementioned constraints.

Chances are that it's far cheaper and easier to do what they've done, and as long as they're seeing the profits they're after, there's no reason to change it.

I'll concede that a few generic houses over the years, like clowns and pirates, could possibly have attempted to make better connections to their respective hamlets but didn't need to do so to be fun.

However, since we don't have to adhere to their constraints, I think it'd be more interesting to try to take an idea such as yours and try to connect it to the hamlet it's to be set in in some way. Otherwise, there's a good chance we'd see a fairly similar concept used at any other haunted attraction... I mean, how many other attractions play off the theme of the devil collecting his due using a generic location?

(Think a literal walk-through of the Devil Went Down to Georgia vs. Man in Black [assumed Devil, could be a demon or the ghost of Johnny Cash instead] going to Kansas - outside of a few people from those states who may be able to tell from set dressing, who in Virginia is going to be able to discern the difference without being told?)

A few years ago I proposed a concept that would reduce changeover times between HOS and CT. I still think it is an idea with some merit. I also imagine there are other house and scare zone themes that would transition easily between the two events.

Also: I thought it made sense to merge the the HOS Concepts and HOS Ideas threads.

I mean if they really want just put a “welcome to…” sign . I just like the dustbowl
Devils alliteration 😅

This! Maybe even add krampus for the rhinefeld Scare zone. Just take out the demonic toys and you have the north pole

Okay what about some sort of mutant insect people terror-tory? Like they brought back some dare species of insect like a bee or spider back from the new world and now either France or England has mutant insect human creatures. Maybe have some honeycomb like makeup on peoples faces? I could see that being really cool looking and fit the theme of the hamlets nicely.

I think this is what they should have done with Killarney Diner last year

I think it would be cool to see Curse of DarKastle return as a haunted house. The tone could be similar to the Dueling Dragons house Universal had last year, and maybe BGW could give the house two endings, one where you escape unscathed (the good ending) and one where King Ludwig catches you and you are never heard from again (the bad ending). It is probably highly unlikely that this would happen though, unless something changes and Busch Gardens starts valuing immersive experiences and theming again.

How much of the issue is caused by the park and how much by corporate. I'm going to guess corporate is the larger factor, either by direct dictation or by budget control.

I would love to see a year where they just bring back old houses. Not like the vault where it’s all of them combined. For example the lineup could be Cornered(Replacing Clown Town) Bitten or Hunted(Replace Monster Manor) Deadline( Replacing Lost Mines) Cavern of Darkness or Unearthed(Replacing Killarney Diner) Cursed or Circo Sinistro( Replacing Death Water Bayou) Bring back catacombs or masquerade. They could have a throwback year where it’s all the old houses. Feel like it would make a lot of people happy and not be too hard to do.

Either this or rotate returning houses that have been removed for 5-10 years for a year or two.

Maybe bring back the original ripper row house where death water bayou is, I could see catacombs going in monster manor’s spot as logistically it’s hard to get the teas the night skate rink ready in time with a haunted house in that spot.

Unearthed sucked in Williamsburg though

Re-energizing this thread for ideas for 2026:

House Ideas:

1. Scotland/Scotland – The Green Lady of the Glen/ Banshees Mourning (Replaces KIlarney Diner)

Inspiration: The legendary “Green Lady,” a spectral apparition said to haunt many Scottish castles/ Banshee Irish Folklore.

2. Darkoster Lot – The Brothers Grimm’s Curse (Replaces Clowntown)

Inspiration: Dark origins of Grimm’s fairy tales.

3. Festa Italia – Catacombs of Eternal Echoes (Replaces Bayou)

Inspiration: The Capuchin Catacombs of Palermo and Italian death rituals.

4./5. Returning Houses: Bloodshot and Werewolves

There are so many European based legends and folklore, it shouldnt be that hard for BGW to keep themes relevant to BGW!
