Colonial Williamsburg announced earlier this year that their official mascots, Liberty and Justice the Briards, will "retire" from programming after three years serving guests and the community. All this might might be more of the bleeding cuts overrunning CW the past few years. Not that I ever agreed on the Halloween thing in a "historic" attraction. The giant eyeballs and tentacle were an abomination to all-things-authentic and time-immersive. The current president's cuts and focus on commercialization has been a sore spot with us since inception. Many historic experts have been let go in favor of more towels for the spa.

Anywho, hijack over. Please return to your normally scheduled thread topic.

The park is using Tampa footage in their Howl-O-Scream XX commercial spot. I know the park doesn't have much to show for this season so far, but I would expect something more customized for Williamsburg's 20th HOS anniversary. At least the characters are ours.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the playing of the DarKastle soundtrack in Germany.

Just watched a YT video of the event and the music in the background in Rhinefeld is the DarKastle score at the "YOU WILL NEVER ESCAAAAAPE"

I wish the park would be that cool, but the music is actually from Van Helsing. I explained this in the comment section on YouTube:

"DarKastle shared studio time with the movie, Van Helsing. The music at 15:24 is from that movie, but that motif and some others were also used in DarKastle. That's why it sounds a bit different. The park has been playing that song in Rhinefeld since Bitten opened in 2009. It's a fun little fact, and it's great that they still play it."

Pst! I have two variations of the soundtrack and the original video on my YouTube channel (CastleOSullivan) if anyone wants to hear the real thing! ?

Truthfully, at this point, I don't even know. They had a simple walkthrough haunted house the year I went, but the current website for the event doesn't seem to list it (or really anything else of much use).

The year I went (two years ago I think?) it was a nice thing to do for a night in October (especially as someone who enjoys Colonial Williamsburg by day). If they've cut back the already slim programming since my visit though, it may not be worth anyone's time anymore.

Anyway, Kings Dominion puts on an incredible event. Just avoid Saturdays like the plague.

Are the crowds worse for Haunt than HOS on Saturdays?

If you're wanting to stat in the WBurg area and want a scary time of a different nature, I highly recommend looking at the Colonial Williamsburg ghost tours.

Edit for clarification:. These are not going around WBurg with an e-meter looking for spooks. These are seasoned story tellers telling ghost stories in a spooky atmosphere.

Do you have any recommendations on which ones are the best? I love haunted stuff but not so much fluff so the more adult the better though I realize that may be asking a bit much. And thanks! This sounds like a great idea!

The only ghost tour that goes into the buildings is called "Ghosts Amongst Us" and is done officially through Colonial Williamsburg itself. Tickets can be purchased on their website and picked up at the Lumber House Ticket Office which, coincidentally, is where the tour starts.

'Cry Witch' and 'To Hang a Pirate' are mock trials which CW does in the Capital at night which some may be interested in. All of these events are recommended for older audiences.

The first part of Frostbite was great and vastly improved.... Then the park ran out of money.

Whatever they used for snow made it uncomfortable to breathe. Really not cool, like at all.
I noticed that too....well that and the dust form the ripout of DK. As we entered in the old load/unload area everything was covered in a huge thick layer of dust. Really even the trash cans in the queue were covered. As we were going down the ramp onto the track floor I could already feel it in my throat. Then that crystal looking snow stuff was awful, I was coughing the rest of the house. Now to put it in perspective airborne particles geneally dont bother me and I work in poor air quality quite often. This was a downright health hazard.

Hey guys. Please excuse me if this has been posted before, but I tried to run a search and nothing came up.

My husband and I are premier members and recently relocated from Williamsburg to the middle of Texas. ? We are flying back in for Howl-O-Scream at the end of October and was wondering if there were any additional pass member benefits being given that month? I’m having a difficult time finding anything online.
