Not to be super-contrarian, but why on earth are they starting their major HOS marketing campaign the weekend before the F&WF opens?  They are effectively undercutting both their major annual food event and their LNM activities, which will be in June.

I’m sorry but the tweet and press release could have waited until July 20.  They should have focused on marketing F&WF, Summer Nights, and Nessie’s anniversary first.

This really kinda bothers me.

prbly cause HOS is likely their biggest and most popular money making event next to CMT. I mean you don't see HOS crowd levels for summer nights, nor F&WF.

One rumor that I heard at the end of last year stated that Catacombs would be gone "as we know it." I don't know if this means reusing the RPT or coming up with something new that reuses Catacomb's set pieces like the way that FrostBite reused scenery from Bitten.

I would be surprised to see them use the RPT for something completely new since the space is so small, but I also think it would be strange for them to use Battle For Eire since it is brand new. I think Drachen Fire's Station might be plausible, but only if they know that they will be able to use it again for at least one more season.

The main reason that we didn't have anything in BBW's station or the former Eagles Nest was that there were different plans for the near future. The park tries not to use areas that will soon become unavailable unless they already have a backup like the recently canceled building behind the RPT.

I understand the reason the park doesn't use Romans Rapids location is due to the lack of space with the house in Festa Field line clashing together creating a cluster. In 2008 he park had to weave the line for Masquerage throughout La Cucina and pouring out into the Roman Rapids plazza. This created confusion among guests with the line for Wicked Woods starting in the same area leading to Festa Field. As a solution, the park in 2009 added another small house location Catacombs. Both locations were mildly similar in the fact they required set pieces that could be moved in and out easily due to the tight schedule with the transformation from Catacombs to the penguin attraction and later on 'Twas that night. Unlike Catacombs, Roman Rapids is not utilized during the winter season and could easily be take down or hidden from guest view.

With the recent removal of the fence near La Cucina and the lack of house locations due to the opening opening of Battle for Eire, could we see the park attempt to resurrect this house location?

Lets jump-start this thread with a bombshell...

Catacombs, at least as we know it, will not return for 2018.
This gives a great opportunity and a great space for a well themed house so we could definitely see them utilizing it for one of the 3 new houses. Does anyone have an updates on that warehouse-like building as a possible event space going behind the royal palace theater? Has construction started on it?

I was just talking to my friends about putting a house back in Drach's queue and since lumberhack would be open, guests would be in that area anyway. I also saw some people fixing one of the bitten archways while riding the train back when the park first opened for the season. So I guess its plausible because I doubt they would close their new "flagship attraction" BFE during their busiest time of the year for a house.

Park President, Kevin Lembke told Attraction Chasers “You might see some old-school things coming back that haven’t been around in a few years.“ With Christmas Town having a new train ride, I feel like this screams "train ride" for Howl-O-Scream. Every event runs off of the previous one as far as scenery so I wouldn't be surprised.

Then again, I think I heard something a while back about the park recycling both Catacombs and Unearthed to make something new, but also familiar. That may be my wishful thinking about that last part, though. I love a good throwback.

I think I posted something like a catacombs x unearthed thing a few pages back- I might come back to that at a later time

Or this might be a reference to Bitten being basck or any number of other things. For all we know maybe the severed heads are bsck.

I am just reporting something interesting that he said. True, it could mean a lot of things. Right now this is still a speculation thread.

Also, Bitten was gone for one year, not years(pl). I wouldn't be surprised to see them use the Drachen Fire station again, but parts from Bitten have been salvaged to make FrostBite FrostBitten.

Perhaps an area like The Neverafter could make a return, dependent on the FHP area's status. I'm trying to think what else could make a return. Werewolves, maybe?

everything from catacombs was trashed and thrown out
A friend of mine who is an install technician told me that a lot of the catacombs decorations were trashed sometime the summer before last season, Busch reportedly gave them no real decoration plans either, so the team was told to make the best of some cheap quick-install decorations less than a week before opening (catacombs wasn't erected until the week of opening last season, because everyone was "busy with frostbite"). He was pretty proud of what he and his team came up with last minute. Here are some of his pictures!

I believe you that the park scrapped all of the walls, but I don't see them trashing certain other props. I am not trying to discount you, but I also think it's worth mentioning that the exoskeleton of Catacombs has been (almost entirely) scrapped x amount of times over its lifespan.

I'm sure Catacombs would have been gone long before now if it weren't for the fact that they set it up in weeks sometimes, using the most basic materials and recycling the same props. That is to say that they could still scrap it and build it all over since it has been done before.

These are the props that were sitting outside of the RPT backstage for a while last year while the park decided what to do. I would expect these props to survive if nothing else does.

What he said could also be referring to scare everywhere that Busch keeps hinting at in their media as well. This could be the year a lot of old stuff comes back, which would be awesome!

Catacombs was mostly walls from Masquerage's set already, so that would be cool. The Masquerage arches and stained glass sets were in Bitten. There is enough around to recreate it. Wicked Woods cloaked figures where at the entrance to Catacombs (but maybe gone last year?).

My opinion is that Werewolf Reserve would be one of the easiest, cheapest, very effective, and big-scares-for-your-bucks areas to recreate. We use to sit and watch cast get people for hours. The daytime setup of stuffed werewolves staged on fences and trees, but switched to live actors at night? Near genius. Though that area is SO stripped of shrubbery now that ghillie suits would be hard to hide.

FrostBite used all that remained of what was used in Bitten, originating from Masquerage, but the Werewolf Reserve is something that I would love to see again. I can't imagine them using that area as a designated Terror-tory, but I bet they could use it as part of the "scare is everywhere" theme.

I have a strong feeling that Demon Street will remain as far as decor, but will no longer be called a Terror-tory, similar to Port of Skull last year. That said, I would expect one of the two new Terror-tories to be in Italy, although it might not have an attraction to go with it. Perhaps a new bar will be enough for them to consider it a Terror-tory since they have been using that term more loosely in recent years.

"Terror-tory" now seems to refer to a designated scare zone with an attraction and/or bar. Axe Alley and Sideshow Square have watered the definition down so much that I wonder how they will handle extra scares.
