RE: Howl-O-Scream 2017

The escape rooms were fun, a bit pricey though. Never had I experienced any technical difficulties with either of the rooms. Everything worked really well.

I'd tag along with Nicole, and also mention that the Karver room was more intense than the Ripper room, mainly because the actor stayed with you in the room throughout the time limit and I think the actor really made the room with his interactions, putting a lot of people in on edge at least in my group.

I can't see this as being a cheap gimmick for the park. I see it as a new experience coming to Halloween events at parks, possibly. I like that they diversified their offerings. Most events offer the same Haunted House, Scare Zone, Halloween-themed show style of attractions. Offering some escape rooms changes that and give me something else to look forward to.

Truly, I would prefer they replace both rooms each year. The bad thing with escape rooms is that once you've done them once, you can't really go back and do them again, unless you've failed and no one showed you the answers in the end. Having new rooms each year would be great for frequent guests.

Tying rooms to existing themes already in the park is also something I would prefer. It makes them more unique and desirable. After all, a lot of escape rooms appear to have many similar and familiar themes. I would prefer a theme that is different from surrounding businesses and unique to Howl-o-Scream.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2017

I would kill to be in a maze like "Alone" it would be a blast!! That and it would really be a blessing to the actors since it's a separate ticket thing and being 18+ gives us freedom with "character choices"

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2017

Supposedly Scott Swenson had to fight tooth and nail for both "Alone" and "The Experiment" to get corporate approval. I'm not sure why since they were so popular, but maybe corporate doesn't want to pay that much for an up charge, limited admission attraction.

An escape room is great for them because it's cheap and doesn't even need much work in the creative aspect. Besides, some people love escape rooms whether they are scary or not.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2017

So I asked this last year but didn't get an answer and thought I might ask again, but the airbrush machines used for facepainting at Howl-o-scream... is there any chance someone knows what brand the park uses? I don't know how many park employees we have on the forum but I'm trying to decide on one that's reliable before I buy. Just hoping someone has any idea. Thanks!

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2017

I have a friend who works for the company that does both the portraits and the airbrush machines in the park and I'll ask her when I get the chance to see if she knows the answer.

Hi all - some Howl O Scream trip planning questions - if anyone is able to help out, I would appreciate it!

I'm from Florida, so I'm used to the ticketed Howl O Scream at BGTB. Is Howl O Scream at BGW included in a daily ticket? So if I buy a ticket for September 23, would I have access to the park from the morning until Howl O Scream?

Also, do you think the crowds during the day on September 23 (HOS opening day) will be busy? My friend and I want to pack in as many rides on this day as possible, as she's only available this one day and doesn't live around here. I know it's a "red" day on the crowd calendar, but not sure what exactly to expect.

Thank you!

Hi crcooper! Good news -- HOS is included in the daily ticket, so you have access to the park and HOS stuff all day! The only things that aren't included are upcharges, like room escapes.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2017

Has anyone noticed when riding the train, the fenced in area in between LumberHack and Bitten? It appears to be something for howloscream. I could see black brick walls up, and camo netting hanging over what looked like a sign. Has anyone else noticed this?

As UnicornZiva already said, HOS at BGW is included in regular park admission.

As for crowds, I'm not entirely sure what the "red" assessment is based on. Historically, crowds at the beginning of HOS can be very weather-dependent. It is a Saturday, which is always the worst day of the week, regardless. If it rains the crowds will be much lighter, but the park can also close early. If it is a nice day, prepare for heavy crowds, probably growing throughout the day.

A few recommendations:

1. Get to the park half an hour before it opens. The have been doing staggered opening this year, but the crowds are always lightest first thing in the morning.

2. InvadR in New France is new this year, so it has had incredibly long lines. If you want to ride it, your best bet is to go there as soon as the hamlet opens, or wait until everyone else is in the houses.

3. If you can afford them, I strongly recommend Quick Queues. They get you front of the line access to most of the major rides and all of the houses.

If you know what you especially want to do (coasters, shows, other rides), we can probably help with better specifics.

It's something I tend to watch out for. I haven't seen most of the same things that I saw last year. Of all things, last year I mostly saw larger props from Unearthed. It's very weird to me why the park chooses to store things where they do.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2017

Anyone think the park would do another "themed" eatery Howl-O-Scream? I think even one for kids during the day in Castle would be worth looking into. If it was a worry of attendence, offer it on a Saturday. I cold see that one themed with Seaseme Street.

None of the dining experiences in Castle O'Sullivan seem to be doing very well. The castle had enough trouble attracting guests when it was an included show. People just didn't know that anything was there.

They keep trying. In fact, I think they are doing a fantastic job in creating them, but they never seem to attract enough people. I do feel like the park needs a stand-alone dinner theater, but they need one that suits their needs better, including being more visible to the public.

That said, I would love to have such an experience. I really miss that in Blood Banquet

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2017

Thanks for the input, Nicole and UnicornZiva! We'll plan to get there early. We would definitely want to fit in as many coasters as possible. I need to do some more research into exactly what rides we'll want to do, but we love theme parks and rides (being from Florida, we've been to Disney/Universal/BGTB dozens of times), so want to get the most out of our one-day trip as possible.

Another question - stalking the BGW webite today, it seems they are selling Quick Queue passes for Friday, September 22 - which is a "closed" day according to their calendar. Do you think that means they're going to change the schedule? I know Saturdays are bound to be the busiest day, so if a Friday opens up on the calendar, I imagine that would be a better bet, crowd-wise.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2017

So, that is really weird. Obviously, one of those is a mistake, but I have no idea whether the calendar or the QQ sales are wrong.

Based on past years, I'd bet it will be open Friday.

The Fun Tracker, PDF Park Calendar, and the website hours all insist the park is closed on Sept. 22, with this information, I am going to believe the park will be closed and that the Quick Queue option is a mistake.

Hey Merboy I did get ask her the question but she didn't have the answer herself as to what brand the air machines are. Sorry.

No problem, thank you for asking all the same! :D

According to the casting/audition page for Busch Gardens HOS shows start rehearsal Sept 5th and open Sept 22 and run through Oct 29th. But all the marketing material does state the park is closed September 22nd...I really hope that changes.
