RE: Howl-O-Scream 2017

I'll take a stab at answering Nicole's question about why someone would miss the train ride/want them to bring it back. I totally agree with her two major critiques of it: that the lines were obnoxiously long and it wasn't actually scary at all. To the lines issue, all I can really say is personally I don't mind waiting for something that I really enjoy, and there are plenty of other HoS attractions I've happily waited in obnoxiously long lines for before. As for the fact that it isn't scary- I'm a person (and I suspect I'm not alone in this) who enjoys being in a spooky atmosphere much more than actually being scared (which I like too, but I get plenty of that in the houses). I loved the ambience of the chilly air, the spooky soundtrack, the jack-o-lanterns leering at me as I ride over a rickety bridge and look up at a glowing full moon. I really don't need to be startled or on edge at any point in the ride- in fact, I'd rather not be. It's a reprieve from the tension of the houses and terror-tories and a chance to just drink in the spooky atmosphere.

That being said, I fully acknowledge that I may be in the minority for not expecting or desiring every attraction at a Halloween event to be, you know, actually scary. I just wanted to articulate why I personally loved it so much.

Nail on the head right there for me. I think I only ever made it to HOS 1 season when the train was utilized, and that was exactly why I enjoyed it.

They wont bring it back they said something about not having enough insurance liability and Busch is cheap they dont want to pay the actors the money. If you really knew how long we actually worked every hour youd see we had it way too easy compared too the actors in the houses.

I want to clarify one of my objections. It isn't merely the length of the lines; I could theoretically skip those with a QQ. It is the mob scene in the station, and the resulting stampede for the train. The park just allowed everyone to push and shove into the station and then onto the train. It was chaotic, rude, and ultimately dangerous.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2017

the only reason I would want the train to come back is purely so I could avoid it.  It did have the tendency to pull people off the paths.  Considering that it is good for all ages, it might help keep small children with parents out of the houses.

It is not for me, and I would rather the park spend the money elsewhere.  However if people like it far be it from me to keep them from a near riot atmosphere.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2017

If they wanted to bring the train back as an official Halloween 'attraction', they should treat it like one, instead of keeping the transportation appeal. By this I mean, have three different sections, and make 'everyone' get off of the train at each station.

Interesting, I don't remember that specific aspect of it but it was a long time ago now so I'm sure I'm just blocking it out. You would think that would have been an easy problem to fix, I wonder why it was never addressed.

Did anyone notice there's a new Escape this year? 'The Haunted Hotel' is replacing the Jack the Ripper room from last season. I absolutely LOVED their room, although somewhat easy puzzles, it was themed very well. *sorry if there is already another thread on the escapes!*

New Terrortory announced for New France: Axe Alley

Busch Gardens Williamsburg said:
The Norsemen came to invade, but what they got was their own Viking funeral. For this was no ordinary raiding party, but an unleashing of power so grotesque that even those mighty Viking warriors fell prey to its devices. The remains of this horrible attack are strewn among the desolate ruins of smoldering timbers and axe-slashed oak. There’s more hidden among these terrifying artifacts in Axe Alley ™. The spirits are restless and under the control of this madness. They walk the world of the living once more to unleash terror upon the land.

Fuck, I'm going to miss Wendigo. It was the only scare zone with a consistently creepy atmosphere in my opinion. The alarms, war zone atmosphere, and special effects like the helicopter created such a tense vibe. Plus, I always love the "something gone wrong" genre of scares, and Wendigo did it so well.

Wish they'd at least move it to Wild Reserve or something. Boo.

MORE EXCITING NEW FEATURES IN STORE AT HOWL-O-SCREAM®

In addition to new haunted house, Busch Gardens to debut new Terror-tory™ and escape room

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (Aug. 2) – If FrostBite, Busch Gardens® Williamsburg’s newest Howl-O-Scream® haunted house, wasn’t enough to give you goose bumps, then hold on to your mittens.

We’re not done yet. There are so many more new features this year for Howl-O-Scream, including a brand new Terror-tory™, Axe Alley™, and a new escape room called No Escape: Case of the Haunted Hotel.

With a loud battle cry, the Vikings invaded Busch Gardens in the spring with the debut of InvadR™, the park’s first wooden roller coaster. But seasons change, and the Norsemen have been sent running in Axe Alley.

The new scare zone, located in New France, signals a raiding party gone horribly wrong, as evidenced by desolate ruins of smoldering timbers and axe-slashed oak.

No Escape: Case of the Haunted Hotel requires guests to follow clues and solve riddles to exit this creepy place of lodging. You must unlock the mysteries of this cursed hotel or you will never check out.

It is one of two escape rooms at Busch Gardens, both located in the Germany village. Returning this year is No Escape: Case of Mr. Karver with new tricks and riddles to solve.

Howl-O-Scream opens Sept. 23 and runs every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Oct. 29. There will be more chances to feel the fear this year, as the park will stay open until midnight on Saturdays in October and will add two Thursdays, Oct. 19 and 26, to its schedule.

Busch Gardens becomes a seriously scary place at 6 p.m. when the Howl-O-Scream haunts come out. Guests should consider the park’s elevated scare factor when deciding whether Howl-O-Scream is appropriate for young children. Please visit www.howloscream.com/va for a schedule and additional information.

It would be awesome if somebody could get a video of Festhaus Park from the train. I doubt that Bitten's props will stay out there much longer.

(Cue sad violin) I maybe don't rank Bitten this high, but it's difficult to watch favorite attractions being demolished, but I think it can help with the "acceptance" part of the grieving process to watch. Sure, it can lead right to the "anger" phase, like the video the park posted of them tearing down the old Festhaus stage for Entwined. Or it could be like The Big Bad Wolf.

Maybe people needed time to wrap their mind around the fact that BBW would never run again. Bitten ran about two seasons longer than Drachen Fire. Surely some people will miss it. (Tosses a rose at the site. Monlogue ends.)

Don't worry in 10 years we will have to listen to people who never walked through bitten tell us how much they miss it and what a shame it was that it was removed.
