Was at HoS tonight. And what a mess it was. To be fair it was mostly guest related issues compared to things that BG can actually do something about.
Got up to the park at like 2:15, made it just in time for the 2:30 showing of MSoRR. Couldn't understand a word the guy was saying. and the show over all was under performing. They were also down one male dancer.
From MSoRR hit up Fiends. I haven't seen Fiends since opening weekend. And the nurses wigs are holding up nicely. No ratty wigs. The werewolf seem to do less humping which was nice. Igor seemed to tone down the creepy which was also nice. Still not a fan of him and Swampy. But I'm glad to see that they improved. The sexual jokes seem to barely get a chuckle out of the audience however.
from Fiends we went to Night Beats for dinner before the show. Plenty of small children around. And somebody came during the middle of the show and sat down like right in front of me to eat. So my clear view I had of the stage was now gone. They didn't even ask if somebody was sitting there, they just sat down. The swing was in for Beatrix tonight as well.
As far as houses go, we did Catacombs first. Catacombs I was stuck behind a small child, and stuck in front of a guy who used to work in Catacombs last year, who kept obnoxiously trying to get the actors pumped up? I'm not sure, but he kept shouting to the actors to try and get them excited. And it was just awful. The child was more well behaved, than the guy behind me. It did get one jump from me.
After Catacombs we did 13. Naturally it was the longest wait. There was congestion entering the house, but once inside it was a steady flow. A+ for getting the line to move, but still an extremely subpar house. It was a tiny bit more staffed than usual.
From there we did Deadline. And wow, when the maze is staffed it actually tries. No jumps from me, but I could clearly see that they were trying. Compared to normal this house was staffed. I'm glad to see what it looked like with that amount of people. They do need to tone down the fog inside though, or turn up the air flow. I ended up coughing a lot inside the house, and I'm not one who usually reacts to fog.
Next was CTC, not staffed very well tonight. They also really didn't do much. There isn't a whole lot to say about the house.
Bitten had it's usual amount of staffing. Not performing very well tonight, but it was trying.
Root. I wish I had nice things to say about Root tonight, but I was just too angry walking through the house to notice. See, I was towards the front of the group. There was an older couple, then a group of 4 women then me and my dad, and then a group of drunks. And you'd think that the drunks were the ones ruining the house. But, no. It was the older couple in the front. The woman clearly looked like she didn't want to go first. And the guy was taking pictures with the flash on. Putting the camera in scare actor faces and taking pictures of them. They weren't happy. I wasn't happy. Now I usually keep my mouth shut when I find somebody obnoxious, unless I know them. I got super angry with the guy taking pictures that I shouted to stop taking pictures and to move. Because they were also holding up the house. They had just completely stopped walking at one point. There was only one way to go so it's not like they were confused as to which path to take. They just weren't walking. So for most of the house I was angry and just wanted to walk through, so I didn't notice everything around me. I feel like it had it's normal staffing, and probably was performing the best out of all the houses. But, that may also come from the fact that Root is my favorite house at the park.
As for Terror-tories. Vampire Point had people in it. It was amazing. I've never seen VP have vampires in it. Yet alone like 7 of them. I wasn't fully convinced that the area existed. But, why are they purple? Are they suffocating? This was clearly the year to paint everyone's faces weird colors, rather than give them good makeup. Also, the second time I walked through I saw maybe two vampires at the most. What happened?
Wendigo Woods, first time going through, I saw 5 military guys and 1 scientist. The second time around there were 2 scientists, and 5 or 6 military guys.
Demon Street was Demon Street. actually saw the Demon DJ out tonight. his mask looks like his face is melting.
Ports of Skull seemed to be more interested in talking to their friends/co-workers than scaring people. The entertainer pirates weren't even out.
Ripper Row I barely saw, and they were basically being called in to go home. So I can't say much other than the sheriff caught the Ripper tonight and was dragging him in.
And that was the report from tonight. I don't know if I'll get to go on Sunday or not. It depends on work and such, so this may be my final thoughts of the event. And this year... It was just a mess. They have got to do something about these houses. Some are falling apart. Staffing needs to be increased by a lot. And STOP WITH THE GOD DAMN HANGING STUFF. IT'S NOT SCARY. IT'S NOT EVEN A DISTRACTION. It's just annoying. Especially, when at 5'7 I'm barely short enough to walk through some parts of Root without ducking down. my poor dad who's 6'2 hated walking through Root because of it.
There needs to be a vast improvement next year. Catacombs, 13 or CTC need to go.
