So I finally made it to HOS this past Friday.

I'll be honest, I thought it was awful. I've been reading the forums the whole season, so nothing was shocking, but I was just blown away by how much this event has gone down hill in recent years. I mean who in their right mind thought a pirate with pink hair and make up that makes a drag queen look naturally beautiful was a good idea?

My main problem was the staffing. It is just the worst. It went through everything but 13 and knowing where people are supposed to be from working there in years past, I could clearly tell they are almost 50% down from where they should be staffing the mazes. This has been a problem now for a few years and the park needs to go ahead and do away with the rule that prohibits park employees from working HOS NOW.

Windego Woods did really impress me and has a crazy amount of potential. They just need to find a way to use the people in there. Funny how its supposed to be about mutated monsters attacking but all I see is the army guys patrolling. Seemed sorta safe.

Finally, so much of the park seems untouched for HOS, whereas in years past you couldn't escape it. Overall I'm giving it a C- this year.

Heard folks at the train station saying that Saturday topped 33K with a maximum of 35K.  The train stations are a wonderful source of information. ;)

I bought my first Quick Queue at BGW. It was really helpful. I also recognized and met CK! The weather was perfect for a day at the park.

Then this Thing goes crawling around on the ground; so creepy.  Folks were running away in different directions and then the constables jumped in to capture the creature and carry it away.  Good times!!
Will try and get a video next time around. ;)

So I went to KD and experienced Halloween haunt... Oh my God can Busch learn from KD,everything from costumes, makeup, sets,EVERYTHING. Just all around (except for shows) KD outshined Busch.

I didn't get the same reaction out of Haunt. My Dad and I both agree all of the house felt the same: Gore, Guts, and DROP THE BASS! At HOS none of the houses feel the same. In my opinion HOS is a better over-all experience. I will admit KD did have quite a few good scare actors that night and I might've had a Gavin moment in one of the houses... I would explain but I don't have time right now. Expect a post at some point comparing the two events.

You must have missed my post about every single maze containing some of the same props all around.

Kings Dominion truly does not have anything that is the same. Every maze is different. Yeah it's gory, that's the objective. But everything looks different and each maze contains different stuff and in different ways.

To put it in an example that may or may not be affective, HOS's theme is Cursed where everything is blue (*cringes*). Kings Dominion thrives for the scares and the gore of Halloween Haunt.

Now that I think about it, I never wrote my HOS review... Time... something I do not have.

There are some pretty cool prizes to be won at the new PLINKO game between Eagle ridge & The Abbeystone Theatre...

I tried this and both times I got small prize. Now I have a pirate skeleton plush. It was kind of worth it, you probably have a better chance of winning something good than anything else I've seen like this.

Evan, I'll explain later but I was referring to an over-all event. So that includes Food & Drink, Atmosphere, and immersion. I still enjoyed somethings at KD better than BGW.

Concept for Ripper Row 2015 haunted house (if that's even possible) theme (btw, there is no reason to believe that there will be a 2015 Ripper Row house to my knowledge): The Tower of London.

BGW also has more crappy shows and demon DJs!

That snarky statement said, I stand by my statment, they are different events with different target audences and while paralles are can be drawn and will be, perhaps we should keep the intended differences in mind.

That being said, we did see an infant in arms in the cue MoM at KD on Sunday.

Well it's late... But my thought's from Friday all day at Busch Gardens. Got to the park, enjoyed Monster Stomp my new favorite show. But ... The only thing that bothered me was when "Jack" Grabbed a womans boob. I didn't see anything wrong just a bunch of little kids seen that... Around the afternoon Sat and waited for 6:00 In Wendigo Woods. A Good few jump scares.. Somewhat good theme. Went through Catacombs same old same old, But the guy jumpinging out of the little "window" To scare you near the exit. 13 Got a good scare, Deadline Got scared, Cut throat cove... Again like last year pushing a wheel chair is hard... including when there's strobe lights and nothing but white walls to keep ramming your mother into the wall, hit a prop and... accidentally hit a actor. Bitten, Nothing has really changed Got a few good scares. Root of All Evil, Liking the new costumes and actors they do a decent job. Festa is just ... wasted land... room for good scares, Just felt empty. Rode the Trade Winds... The teenage employee's forgot to lock the turnstile and a little boy ran through it and went up to the gate and the man screaming "GO BACK!!!" Ended the ride and I blurted "That's why you lock the gates" ... So this year to me has been pretty decent ... I really like the Cursed Theme... Fits well.
