So here is my take on this marketing campaign. It is unique, unexpected, interesting, and very much enjoyed. However, I think it has failed. It did not seem to gain any attention from anyone except the frequent Facebook Fans and the forum members here. In fact, it seems only the people who try to keep updated with their Facebook were the only ones to catch on. The posts did not get a lot of likes or shares from anyone out side of the two groups I had mentioned. Nor did they receive many comments. The only time a random Facebook guest commented, they only posted something along the lines of, "there's graffiti now?"
It is extremely sad to see really cool and neat things like this get overlooked, but sadly I think the park may not return to this style because of the lack of attention from everyone, not just the more concerned updated fans.
Now as far as the posts disappearing. I listed each of the users below and their status regarding Facebook.
Amy Malone (Am I Alone) - Active User
Virginia Park - No Longer Exists
M.t. Tombs (Empty Tomb) - No Longer Exists
Joe Kerrs (Jokers) - No Longer Exists
Clearly Virginia Park and Joe Kerrs are no longer needed, which would make sense as to why their Facebook accounts no longer exist. If you look at the blog Amy and M.t. are the contributors there. I expect that keeping in touch with the "Don't Listen" theme, the park removed the posts from Facebook to increase the suspicion for those keeping up and playing along with the story.
I think that the rest of the campaign will be focused on Amy and M.t. and isolated on the blog. However, something will more than likely be going down at 10AM tomorrow, either online or at the park. I am very intrigued to see with the marketing department has up their sleeves.
Now the sad part about this is Marketing is doing their job, which is to make whatever the park does look and seem much better than it actually is. We already know (thanks Zach) that we are only getting 1 show, 1 terror-tory, and 1 extra-charge show/buffet. We know that is it. We also know the park has a limited budget as it stands anyway so I wouldn't expect any of those three to be outstandingly superb at all, maybe the show will be done nicely, but I do not expect them to be perfect.
So do not become a victim of awesome marketing, it is what it is. Now, I really think Monster Stomp should be getting the same exciting reveal as Fiends did on Pass Member Appreciation Weekend, and I am certain that the meeting will be a lot better than previously. They have so much more exciting things to announce this year.
I also want to say 'Amazing Job' to the technicians for literally striking almost everything except the grill and bar last night. The bar just needs to be repainted and transformed, but is the grill going to stay and be transformed too? I am very excited to start seeing some HOS stuff get put up within the the next few weeks.
