Well, what other new thing am I supposed to enjoy this year?

Come and imbibe some rum with me as we ride the train, then cross the San Marcos bridge and get our yo ho ho on as we ready ourselves to at least pretend to enjoy the piratey atmosphere and Cuthroat Cove. :D

I don't drink and that house is a re-skinned Fear Fair using recycled props. :/

Believe it or not, I want to enjoy HoS. There's no evidence to support an event better than last year.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013: Fear Has a Way of Spreading

While I openly admit that I think Root completely failed last year, I am generally able to enjoy almost all of the houses. I think it is because I walk in wanting to be scared. They are pretty much successful until proven lame.

I believe the various men in my life consider me more entertaining than the houses, themselves.

And just because the props aren't new, doesn't mean they can't be effective. With the right atmosphere, motivated actors, and creative design, the house could be fantastic. As I said before, one of my best HOS experiences was on a path between houses.

Oh, and the only time I have ever had alcohol in the park was at the F&WF. I don't need help being silly.

I don't really drink either. But there is no better time to start!! Have faith. And if ever in doubt...DRINK!! Or, come to the Wild Reserve and make your own fun as you walk through the fog into oncoming groups of teens making them scream.

For what it is worth, BGW isn't the only place with this issue. I was looking at the Cedar Point site getting ready for our trip and saw this. I suppose if you are regional park, it is hard to please everyone.

"WARNING:Some haunted houses and themed midways may be too scary for some guests after dark. But don't worry - we still have plenty of family-friendly attractions and shows for everyone, day and night."

I was just looking at Scarowinds Halloween Haunt. They had the following description:

DARKNESS FALLS. EVIL RISES. Every weekend night, Carowinds transforms into a horror-filled nightmare. From mazes with terrifying creatures around every corner to thrill rides that'll haunt your dreams, it's everything you fear and can't wait to experience. Not for anyone under 13.

So does all Cedar Point theme parks have an age limit for their Halloween events?

Not that I can tell, but they have the whole Snoopy stuff going on for kids.

When I worked at Cedar Point they had kid style house they actually transformed the bumper car area into a kid friendly scare zone and activity place. I believe it was called BOO HILL. They also had a kid costume contest right before the scream steers took their walks to each scare zone. I'm counting down tomorrow is my surgery, and than week of rest than back to the park. Btw you guys planning like a group meet up one night during HOS? I would be interested in meeting some of you and get our HOWL O SCREAM on

Yeah, Dorney did "Boo Hill" too; they may still do it.

I am not sure if y'all have covered this yet, but does anyone know what this is?

Aquitaine has a lot of par can lighting on the roofs. It really is interesting, just walking through Aquitaine looking up at the roofs you wonder what all these lights could possibly be used for.

Other than pathway light changes, no signs terror-tory decor.

I saw on the train Sunday that ROaE is 2/3-3/4 set up, but from the outside it doesn't look different from last year at all. But I don't know about the inside of it.

I don't believe in pessimism. If something doesn't come up the way you want, forge ahead. If you think it's going to rain, it will.
