RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013: Fear Has a Way of Spreading

Yes, we are back again to the whole MIXED MESSAGES thing; LOTD & FOF open! Bring your kids!! And at the same time...PARENTAL ADVISORY, HOS AFTER 6 NOT RECOMMENDED FOR KIDS.

Chickenking, to be fair, Kings Dominion apparently does this at Haunt for Planet Spooky (Peanuts-themed Halloween event all day until 5). It's discussed here. The thing is, it's a full-fledged event on its own, so the kids are totally entertained and have had their fill before Haunt starts. It's marketed as a different event from Haunt, whereas BG has Sesame Street's stuff as part of Howl-o-Scream, so parents probably just assume, "Let's take little Billy to Howl-O-Scream. he can play with Elmo dressed up as a skeleton, then take him on this cute little haunted house called Deadline right next door!" If they did a larger-scale event (I feel like they would have more room in Land of the Dragons) like Planet Spooky, they could market it as its own event: "Let's take little Billy to Grimm's Howl-o, the new family-friendly event at Busch Gardens that ends at five. Then we can leave before the next event, Howl-N-Shriek or something starts!" Maybe... it could help with the whiny parents.

Some things are just better at night. I for one shall have my daughter accompany me to HOS. We love the shows, ride some rides, avoid the mazes and/or hordes (last year). Had lots of fun. The night time is the right time. She loves the atmosphere, but is not ready for bigger scares. Sometimes, she likes to be on the edge of feeling like she is participating in the scary stuff. It's funny; kinda like a little chihuahua dog barking at a big dog until the big dog finally decides to get up and snap at the little rat dog to shut it up. So cute.

It's just that not every kid handles it the same way as your daughter...

No argument here. This is why a blanket policy is no good; meaning the NO KIDS thing.

I would support such activities. The only issue I have is we tend to go on Fridays, and work/school withstanding, there really isn't a lot of daytime to work with. Saturdays are out for me HELL NO! Sundays sometimes. :)

Plans exist, but I think Busch Gardens wants to get their current cash cow (Howl-O-Scream) right before they go through with anything.
