I'm good with it, I'm just worried that so much has been syphoned from the budget for these "over-the-top thematic experiences" that everything else will be lacking.

That's kind of my point. Those animals were done in house, so if the decorations that require intense theming to work are done in house on the cheap as opposed to using a another company like Holiday Hills, it's not going to with. Look at root last year.
I think that the new house will be totes poop like root. What made houses like Deadline so amazing is that they gave different companies to take care of all that. If that's not happening and seeing what in house under Scott produced, I have little hope.

I think Oak Island did a good job with Howl-o-Scream as always, at least from what control they have.
Now Illuminights they had nothing to work with so that's in them but also think maybe the Howl-o-Scream budget took up some of the Illuminights budget?

I was at the park today. When I crossed the bridge in the misty, cold, dreary weather, the ominous music, the props, and the signage gave it a fantastic atmosphere. It made me super pumped that a buncha recycled old props and a few new ones could have such a presence, and it kinda renewed my hope for the terror-tories.

I can't wait for HOS here in the burg I'm new to area straight up from Tampa and looking forward to the new ideas with TERROR-Tories I'm gonna head to park about everyday if I see or spot something I will take pics and help motivate for fear season and hoping to meet some you to hang and coaster it up.

I wish I lived by the park, I would be there constantly. I live in Pa, but I come for Howl-o-Scream every year. I'm so excited about the terror-tories, I'm curious about what they'll look like before six though...

Hard to tell from the reflection, but that looks like an Intellabeam. There are two basic types of moving lights. One type, the entire head with all moving parts (gels, gobos, splitters, iris, whatever) is mounted on a motorized base. The second, seen in that picture, places all the moving bits in a stationary base, and projects onto a mirror. The mirror does all the movement, rather than the entire instrument.
These can be used to do just about anything. Different gobos and gels can be put in the wheels to change it up for any event.

New to the area and as such I have never been to Howl-O-scream. It looks cool but I have some question about it. Are all he rides open during the day or just some of them? Do they shut down all the rides and go to just the houses at night? Also are there roaming and random placed scare actors or are they just in the houses?

Think of it as a normal day until 6pm. Then things get spoooooky! Rides should still be running, but a few extra special ones make it a gamble every day as to whether they are operating or not. Roaming hordes were last year, not exactly sure what will take place in the Terror-tories yet.

Basically they have tried something new almost every year when it comes to what to do outside of the houses. Do you like haunted houses? Naughty Nurses? Liquor? Giants fighting near Pompeii? This is your event!
Honestly, we won't know how good/bad it will be until it starts. I am optimistic.

Some of you guys may have seen these over the weekend. A lady had posted on the Facebook that she saw signs regarding the HOS souvenir cups and popcorn buckets. She said that the sign mentioned free refills. She thought it meant free refills for both of them. Is it both or just the HOS cups?

The refills are just the cups, if you read the whole sign, theres are part where it says with purchase of a Howl-o-Scream Souvenir Drink Cup. She probably missed that part and just saw the popcorn bucket pictured near the sign.

I bought one of the cups, and I'm well on my way to making my money back. I love being able just to walk up, fill up with an ICEE, and practically keep walking. (some of the employees want to scan the cup, even though it comes up zero, I'm guessing just for inventory purposes)
