Just tossing this out there while we're on the topic of previous Howl-O-Scream attractions: What do you people think of a Sea Dog Cemetery reboot?

;)

What are you trying to tell us?

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013: Fear Has a Way of Spreading

I'm sorry, no path scares is an insta Halloween event fail. and with only one "new" maze... I can imagine the gp's perception of the event will be terrifyingly bad.

The path scares/scarezones make the event. They are integral to the event and with them lacking I cant imagine the event will be all that great... I really can't imagine hos without path scares.

^ I agree. It doesn't give the true sense of "the scare is everywhere".

I like "C". It sounds... intersting.

Just to note, if anyone thinks Pirates aren't Italian, they can be. Pirates are universal. So bring them on :p

With Fear Fair gone should we expect clowns in 13?

That would be a very cool concept! Coulrophobia- Fear of clowns. Besides, it would sort of makes sense, because this is based off of the original Howl-O-Scream haunted house (Dark Tower). Dark Tower had a very well done clown segment.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013: Fear Has a Way of Spreading

Every time I read the description for 13 it confuses me. A tower? The thirteenth floor? Why not make each room a "floor" on a building. If you went into a kind of elevator looking thing between each room it would help prevent stacking in the actual rooms while also adding to the atmosphere of the house.

^ If they had that, there would be long lines to get in the elevator, not to mention 13 elevators. I don't really ever see tacking in 13. I also walk slow, so our group always ends up being first. :)

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013: Fear Has a Way of Spreading

I always thought it would be cool to have a fake elevator in the first room as you enter. Maybe they could have two side-by-side, to make the line move faster. If they pull it off properly, then they can get the right amount of people in the house at a time, preventing any backups. Usually, with haunted houses, backups are less likely to happen if you send people in small groups. Even though they try to send people in small groups, they always end up joining as one big line at some room where people are afraid to go forward. I've always viewed this house as a potential way to let security actually do something. The biggest backups always seem to happen in both claustrophobia, and fear of heights. They could position security people at the beginning of these rooms, and if they see anyone hesitating for more than five seconds or so, they could either dispatch a scare actor, or let them walk around it, in a way that wouldn't ruin the experience for others. I don't know if they have enough room, but I think they should build a walk around for the fear of heights room. That could solve a lot of problems.

Then what they need is a big fat guy with a chainsaw bringing up the rear when that happens. I bet those lines move a LOT faster. People tripping over themselves trying to get out. FEAR OF HEIGHTS BE DARNED!!!

A "Hellavator" prop at the entrance or built in the first room would be awesome... Fear of elevators is pretty common too actually. I thought up a little concept some time ago that used it.

The park would have to build their own cause something like this is apparently out of their budget... But, if they have a welder and a sparky present there are tons of resources on the web to build one of these in-house and the price could end up being about 60% less, if not more. I'd personally go for the airbag method(uses airbags to inflate and lift the "elevator"), because they are easy to replace, less moving parts, less downtime... Also, it allow continuous cycling, because the airbags don't need to reset after the elevator "falls". The only tricky part would be timing the air compressors... There would have to be two groups in order keep it cycling continuously.

They'd have to also have two "hellavators" in order to effectively keep lines moving... If they built two with a 20-30 person capacity and could cycle about a median of 25 people every minute between the two, staggered in 30 second intervals they could artificially decrease wait times, and allow 50 people through the maze every minute, while staggering the maze input which in theory would decrease stacking... While maintaining a 3000 guest per hour throughput... Which is actually a pretty epic throughput... But I fear because they'd only be able to move half the park's capacity through the maze in one night, rather than the whole park such an idea would never come to fruition... And we'll continue seeing uber-stacked mazes... But you know... I thought the trick to themeparks and events like HOS were to get people to stay as long as possible... bleh.

You guys should see the plans I drew up for this zombie maze...
