RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013: Fear Has a Way of Spreading

I don't mean to get off topic but what happens during these passholder weekends? I knew their was one coming up and I thought about going.

I absolutely loved the fog on Verbolten last year; it really added a ton of atmosphere to that last drop, and I miss it every time I ride Bolty. They better have it again this year!

Adding fog to Griffon would be great, too. I agree it echoes the hell theme perfectly! Some fog and red lighting and maaaybe some lift hill sound effects? That much be too much theming for the budget right now, but a girl can dream! :)

Pass Holder Appreciation Weekend is one weekend out of the year typically the weekend before Howl-o-Scream starts where pass holders get larger discounts and random giveaways. The main highlight of the event is the announcement held on the first day of the weekend. The announcement is usually first thing the morning with free breakfast and free promotional items (bags, cups, etc.) The announcement will consist of all MAJOR upcoming news about the park typically it plays out they talk about how the current year has been, then they get to Howl-o-Scream. Afterwards, they talk about Christmas Town, and then they give very small minimal details about something big that they are doing next year. There will be a Q&A section at the very end of the announcement that you can ask whatever your heart desires, whether they actually answer you is another story.

There is a thread for this under Special Events, just to keep on topic.

Thanks ^

I think we will get some sort of update on the HOS site in the next week or 2. Just a guess.

Let it be known the cornstalk stands are standing by and are ready to be placed out in the pathways with cornstalks.

After last years crappy start with little to no park decor, I think the park is really getting ready to burst out things as soon as Illuminights ends. Hopefully this is true.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013: Fear Has a Way of Spreading

Is there even going to be a passmember appreciation weekend this year? That all might be expensive.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013: Fear Has a Way of Spreading

It's on the calendar so there's no reason to believe otherwise.

Also to note, I am hearing possible rumors of a house in the Globe Theater since it is not being used and no real renovation work has started. Take that with a grain of salt.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013: Fear Has a Way of Spreading

I wonder if they'll ever have an Alone style attraction. I don't really know anything about their plans for this year, but I still think they have something good up their sleeves. The main question I have, is if it's marketable. After the way attendance was this year, along with the budget crisis, they need to have positive publicity. I've always thought it would be fun to be invited to one of their social media events, but most people who are invited never say anything negative. Some would even say Killarney Kommotion is the "best show ever", just to get invited. I'm all for being positive, but sometimes reviews like that can make a buisiness lose customers because they sound to phony.

No Globe house. Renovations are already well underway.

Yea, it was just back area rumor talk, I wasn't expecting much. Also, there isn't any more space backstage to fit hardly anything. Just thought I'd mention it though.

Can anyone tell by the picture if the greenhouses have the same set up as last year?

I heard that the park has adjusted their schedule for a week or so without updating it anywhere. Just rumor, but from what I've heard this years low park attendance may be reducing park hours between August 11th and Howl-o-Scream.

Also for those who'd like a bit of a description for those pictures Zach posted on my behalf;

1st - Pompeii Bridge Troll; currently located behind the wooden fence across from Pompeii "hidden"
2nd - Root of All Evil; currently under construction
3rd - Skeleton sets, rats, and clothing line props from France last year; currently located behind Ristorante Della Plaza "hidden" possibly used for the pirates theme
4th - Cornstalk bundle stands; currently hidden behind the wooden fence across from Pompeii; for use in Scotland?

Also from sources; Deadline is getting a refurbishment, and all the existing houses in general are getting worked on a tweaked and change, nothing too major but still something to note.

That is why I love Deadline so much. The attention payed to detail is very "OCD-ish". In this case, that's a good thing. You may not even remember 25% of the house, but your sub-conscience can pick some of those things up, adding to the creepy factor. If I had to make a guess, I would assume Deadline might get something to cover up the remaining set pieces from previous mazes, because it's basically on top of the already existing sets.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013: Fear Has a Way of Spreading

Who will be at the park tomorrow to take a look at all the changes for Howl-o-Scream? Any chance the bridge will be done tonight for tomorrow?

I am sure a lot of work will be done tonight and we might see some changes tomorrow; or at least I hope so!

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013: Fear Has a Way of Spreading

With SDGs post somewhat confirming the location of the dining experience, I can try to stitch the details to give you guys a much more crystal clear image of what we can expect.

Imagine this, you are walking past Alpengeist into Rhinefeld, you pass by German Gifts and the candy store and as you walk under the overpass you see the naked lady statue has been replaced, but in its place is The Lady of the Gardens. She is urging you to come and visit her vampire dining experience. The building used for Santa's Workshop has been converted into a temporary buffet where vampires will serve you here.

How does that sound? Because that is exactly what I am understanding from my sources.
