BGWScream said:I was reading some reviews of HHN's opening weekend. They are doing a "street experience" similar to what BGW is doing with the Hordes. However, HHN's "hordes" not only roam the streets terrifying people but they have permission to go into restaurants and shops scaring people. Do you think BGW would allow their scareactors to run around in restaurants and gift shops?

Party Rocker said:Have you seen the decor? They obviously have a ton out, i especially like how MSR's wagons for the drum portion are located by the troll bridge near Festa along with Hunted/Unleashed's rocks and a few ghosts.
In that case it was about as unexpected and startling as it was scary. This guy in a wet suit chillin' in a garden pond is just... awkward. It's not the idea that's bad, it's the execution of said idea and that's all I mean.Party Rocker said:The guy in the pond isn't supposed to be scary, it is supposed to be unexpected and startling.
I guess both were on smoke breaks or perhaps they were watering the plants. IDK. The only person "directing traffic" was Santa Clause in a set a of green overalls.Party Rocker said:There are two Lady of the Gardens, one before the pond and one after. They are there to direct you past the pond.
Party Rocker said:You must not have been to the park. I will admit the wolves need some work, after all this was there first weekend so I am not judging them too harshly. All the clowns are very excellent and do stay in character. After seeing them at least 10 times the past two weekends total, they all do really well and I wouldn't change them at all. Even saw one go so far as to get into the woods area just to walk around and sneak up on some people sitting on a bench. Plus, the guys with the chainsaws were great too. There were like three of them that wander slowly behind the rest that really get the job done great!
Maybe we should recap what the park looked like in the past. I just did a quick search on youtube and this person shot some vid showcasing a few of my aforementioned points.Party Rocker said:I guess you need a recap of the decor?
England is very well done, so 10 less crows, that isn't much of a difference.
Ireland is superb. All the yellow wires attached to the executive monsters and the cogs on Abbeystone and the green is all just amazing. BTW, it does not have pumpkins.
Scotland looks great with the Jack O'Lantern skyline at night, that is really all the decor you need with how well they did that.
Wild Reserve is full of tombstones and ghosts. Tons and tons! It looks fantastic!
France, again 10 missing rats is nothing to be worried about. I mean I think they did perfect and it looks EXACTLY like the same amount of rats as previously if not more.
New France, Werewolves looking good as they look life like and real in the night time. Spiders also make a good compliment. The bridge to Aplengiest is amazing, using mummies for spider victims was a good idea.
Rhinefeld could use some more along with Oktoberfest.
San Marco and the Gardens of DaVinci's Inventions is looking great. Broken pots, crates, wagons, etc. line the pathway making it look outdone.
Festa's bridge is over the top from previous years. The hanging fabric is great, but I wish they could keep the fabric from becoming just a straight line rather than a wall. The actual area can use a bit more.
Pompeii is it's own attraction and decor.
Overall, you seemed to miss just about everything or you just went the first weekend? Tons and tons of decor everywhere! Even Atlantis had said, he hasn't seen so much decor before. Where have you been?
The feel in the park is amazing now and will get even better.
Plus, if you read over it, you probably did, I mentioned that the park is doing more extensive work this week as well. All this was planned, and this decor is being placed in the park on time.
Party Rocker said:Your post is so disappointing. The fact that you siad the pumpkins were in Ireland where they were CLEARLY in Scotland make me doubt the legitimacy of your post. I think you were just greatly mislead and had expectations beyond anyone's imagination.
I will give my full review of the past two weekends later on when I have time. I mena after being there every day, I have a lot to say!

murph said:Obviously someone has no idea what quality over quantity is... Sure I was impressed with the scare zones last year at haunt but, that was really the only impressive thing about it. The actors in just about every house and the quality of every house was very sub-par. They don't even use distractions 75% of the time to get the scares which in most cases will fail miserably.
Haunt is nowhere near HNN if you ever go that statement would be retracted in a heartbeat.

I actually find it supremely annoying. I mean, I enjoy the haunted stuff but there are other things going on at the park. If I'm just trying to carry a tray of food through a crowd to find a seat, or coming off a ride, or in the restroom, or watching a show, or shopping in a gift shop, or even mundanely trying to wade my way through a narrow, jam packed path between countries, I'm not really looking for a bunch of performers to be jumping in my face (and the ensuing chaos that it causes).
I'm fascinated that this is apparently what people seem to "want." But I guess it is, so there you go... :dodgy:

I had forgotten that - 2 years in Banbury, final year in Festa...

Not to mention some folks might wet themselves. Bad form!
Someone mentioned the crows in England earlier. Instead of worrying about the numbers (which are many by the way) how about covering the ground in the immediate area with fake crow poo. Then have some areas where water drops randomly on people's heads while walking under the crows. You know, the same trick that is used in the Pirates 4D movie.

Quality over Quantity?
The only thing that is "quantity over quality" at The Haunt nowadays is the shows. Scares are set up the same exact way they are at Busch, only thing that could use additional tweaking at the haunt is their lighting.
Haunt is nowhere near HNN if you ever go that statement would be retracted in a heartbeat.
Go this year and tell me more about the level of detail of everything. Mind you, I don't have pictures of the additions this year and have to steal them off the internet. But, Needless to say I'm extremely impressed. The new facade for Slaughter House looks amazing. As far as I'm concerned When I judge a Haunt, It's not the amount of money they spend, It's about what they try to do with it. And I'm sorry, Comparing KD to something like HHN isnt a stretch. HHN's sets look more authentic, they use "Real" whenever possible, Money almost is no problem. KD doesnt have that budget (nor does Busch). It's like comparing Knott's Berry Farm to HHN. They Both are amazing. Knotts Definitely doesnt throw around the $$$ for the sets that Universal can, but they don't look like the absolute shit you guys would say it is if Knotts was down the street and not KD.
BTW, KD basically gets a slightly redesigned version of Knotts Haunts. Knotts is one of the few highly regarded Theme Park Haunts in the world. My only qualm ever with KD is some of the lackluster actors. Even Busch has those.
Yall need to wake up and smell the coffee.
