^ Good. I didn't want to go there listening to some pop music.

I checked back with the Deadline webcam shortly after my last post and their were more scare actors in the subway car. I counted around 4.

Hordes still are not on their game. Fiends had some show changes. The cast no longer does the Time Warp, but the song will still play.

I haven't been yet this season but from what I'm reading, it seems as though they shouldn't have added an extra week. I hope they get better because in the past we have noticed that things get scarier as it gets closer to halloween. (That's why we don't go in september) I hope the change things and help the horde so that this howl-o-scream can measure up to years past.

For next year, shortening IllumiNights > shortening Howl-O-Scream.

Anyway, I'm back at the park again. Any requests?

We finally got to go thru 13 yesterday right when it opened and I was pleasantly surprised that I loved it. They really got us good on our walk thru. Can't wait to come back again in October. :D

When I went through half of the fears in 13, I forgot what they were...and the mirrors thing could have been kind of cool if executed correctly, but of course it was awful.

I've stated this before: this is nothing new. Every few years, HOS starts around the 15th of September - it's just the way the calendar falls.

Agreed - prior to Illuminights, HOS prep started in early August - you'd see signs all over that said "Please pardon our appearance as we prepare for Howl-O-Scream." It was not only a good early start, but it created buzz among locals and gave tourists a reminder that they should return in the fall.

Also lack of decor, what they have up now is okay but they do need more and that is what creates a scare atmosphere, plus more scare actors, but prep wise with decor, not so good.

Other than San Marco, can someone please explain where the decor is lacking? I'm asking this seriously, because I went to the park Friday and Saturday and noticed absolutely no difference in the level of theming in the countries vs. previous years. If you want to take Scare Zone decor into consideration, then that I do understand, but as far as decor itself, I'm just not getting it.

San Marco, the bridge to Pompeii, the path around Pompeii, Rhinefeld, France, New France, Festa, Oktoberfest...I mean, pretty much the whole park. Some areas have nearly zero decorations, but almost every area that has decor is scaled way, way down from the past few years. Losing the scare zones is a huge part of it, but they could have easily compensated for that instead of just replacing them with nothing.

I guess we just agree to disagree then because I definitely think Rhinefeld/France/New France/Festa were the same as always, I don't recall Oktoberfest ever having much of anything, and Pompeii had mummies 1-2 years and other than that I don't recall anything. San Marco I do agree with, but for some reason they seem to never really get that area right for HOS.

I do agree that they could (and should) have replaced the scare zone decor with something. Honestly, I think the gaps there make it seem like there's less in the park overall (rather than just less in the zones), especially at Festa bridge and in the reserve.

There was scary music playing in several countries, but not all. Ireland had old Pat Benatar pop music. Oktoberfest had even worse pop music..... PHIL COLLINS!!

Example of missing decor.... Catacombs entrance line used to be lined with statues of black corpse like creatures. They are all gone, except a few. The scar zoned decorations is a huge part of it. Even if the actors were moving around the park the decorations could have been put up. It seems like Ireland it not as lit up and glitzy as it was last year. France is really toned down.

Personally I thought Ireland was one of the best looking spots in the park...

Phil Collins is scary music. ;)

Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.
