Hi-Space (Nickelodeon Universe China) Intamin Rides for Sale

Interesting news coming out of China, used rides website "Ride Trader" just posted on Facebook that they are selling 3 Intamin coasters and a drop tower at a "Huge Discount."


Originally the park was going to be a Nickelodeon Universe, but has now rebranded to "Hi-Space" and whoever owns the park now looks to be installing more family attractions. A family coaster and a Maurer Spike coaster have been installed, and the Intamin coasters are currently in pieces waiting for relocation.

The 3 coasters are
-An Orange Half Pipe coaster with no announced theme
-Intamin Multi Launch themed to "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles"
-Intamin spinning coaster themed to "Shredder"

Our age of bronze is collapsing.

Western manufacturers are kinda being forced out of China now mostly. Sure there's still handpicked projects where very specific attractions are being imported or were holdovers, although that number has dwindled exponentially. For a little bit it looked like COVID and the real estate crisis slowed down the pipeline of new parks, but really the Chinese are cutting them out. Very simplistic description but true.

Local manufacturers (especially Jinma) are at a point where all the attractions installed in the 2000's and 2010's are aging out and can be replaced with good functional equivalents. Jinma is a giant firm that can successfully sustain the entire continent now, they may be the largest manufacturer globally. Fabrication output is higher than SBF Visa and Zamperla combined. Their rides are a little jank still but adhere to growing quality and can tap into PLC's remotely for troubleshooting.

Most firms are getting pushed out but I think Intamin especially is facing liability issues there. The park with the Taron clone is preparing to shut it down, maybe permanently this time, because running it long term would mean importing parts for it. This indoor park has changed hands since then, and while the Maurer Spike and maybe Zamperla flats were retained they've foreseen difficulties in managing four Intamin attractions. Several years ago if the initial investors didn't sink they would have built these.

Really this is just apart of a macro issue going on with international business in China. Hollywood, Tech, Produce, everything is affected. There was huge money to be made once out of China, now the domestic companies have control of the market, are favored by regulators, and they are FIERCELY nationalistic. Yes importers feel the pain and would rather have that door open to business, but they will continue getting work elsewhere so losing China isn't the be all end all. I am by no means qualified to eloquently explain matters like China's economy and global trade but I reckon that's a pretty simple summation of it.

So yeah Intamin being cooked in China is not completely unexpected. The scale is going to tip even more so in the next few years.

Not if the Cedar Fair execs have anything to say about it. My money would be on Enchanted Parks if these end up in the states

I mean most if not all of the "Cedar Fair" execs have either left or are on their way out.

Correct. The entire C-Suite of Six Flags has pretty much changed out since John Reilly started. I could see Six Flags wanting to pick some of these up.
