Those are past their smelly phase for the year. It's probably sewage or trash, sadly.It’s likely a Bradford or callery pear tree.
I know the smell you are referring to. To me it smells like oak trees, moss/lichen, and aged timbers. I think because it is so wooded, shaded, and keeps a lot of the moisture, that the smell is mostly moss/lichen.Total shot in the dark here: There's a certain smell (not the stables/livestock smell, I know I set myself up for that one) in the Heatherdowns area, mostly near Loch Ness that I cannot seem to identify. Maybe it is the flora in the surrounding gardens? Anyone care to hazard a guess? I know that's not a lot to go on.
