I went last Sunday and the only noticeable setup for Haunt was seeing lighting being staged/added in CAG.

At least in the areas of the park that are opening during Bonus Days, there isn't much of any Haunt progress to be seen around the park.

(Not a criticism of course, Haunt starts later than Howl-O-Scream and KD normally sets up their Halloween event a lot faster than BGW—just wanted to give everyone an update.)
Given that there is no maze in FOF nor the Blackout maze this year. Given there is is no Iron Workx scare zone and no scare zone between I-Street and Old Va this year. It sounds like KD does not need to start so early with their Haunt set up. Course, most stuff is happening behind the scenes. Given that Grimm Woods is supposedly in the old DA area, they might have started that area already. Only real way to see is to ride the Grizzly and look over as your train is climbing the lift hill.

That's a good point.

I've been trying to view the old DA area from the Grizzly lift hill, for the past several Sundays. But unfortunately I haven't noticed any real activity yet - though honestly given all the trees, it's hard to see too much.

About the limit of what I've seen is back on Sunday 8/22, was several KD maintenance staff and KD truck (with trailer) parked where the T-Rex's used to sit, near the end of the walkway. It appears they may have been working on the long wooden bridge leading to that final section of the trail. But again given the foliage, it's honestly hard to say.

But on the positive side, seeing just that much activity in that old DA area is a good thing... as the only activity the area typically sees, are the weeds growing in the sidewalk cracks. 🙂

I kind of like Haunt even though I really, really do not like the mazes. Way too scary and unpleasant for me. I just really dislike jump scares. I also hate all the actors that jump out as you walk around. lol. But I like the fog and lights and atmosphere and all that. The main show is kind of fun too. No Grizzly is a huge disappointment for me.

Kings Dominion has announced their full lineup for Haunt’s 20 Years of Fears! One new maze, one new scare zone, and four FIVE new shows this season!

New Maze: GrimmWoods (located next to Grizzly)

Welcome to our Haunted Trail, where classic fairy tales leap off the page and lunge at your throat. Experience the three terror-filled stories, straight from the twisted minds of the Brother’s Grimm. Over the river and through the woods, we hope you make it out alive.

New Scare Zone: Uprising (located in Safari Village)

The Doswell Survivors Society is here to help! Located in a remote area of Safari Village, we hold a safe haven from the Zombie hoard. Proceed with caution as the blood-thirsty undead are seeking their next meal. See you soon!

New Show: Big Top Band (located in Cleaver Brothers’ Carnival)

After the night's festivities have been set up and the Scariest Show on Earth is ready to roll, the carnies are ready to relax. Join our band as they entertain you with carnival classics. Listeners beware, as years on the road have left this group of musicians ill-adjusted.

New Show: Black Widow’s Burlesque (located in Cleaver Brothers’ Carnival)

Our next performance is making its Cleaver Brothers debut. The Black Widow Burlesque will captivate and intrigue you with skill and beauty unmatched. Enjoy with caution because these performers cast a wide web, and these spiders DO bite.

New Show: Burnette the Barker (located in Cleaver Brothers’ Carnival)

Burnette the Barker was known worldwide for his antics and his famous accordion until he was exiled for acts too heinous to mention. His return has been much anticipated and your undivided attention is requested. Step right up and enjoy Burnette the Barker for a killing good time.

New Show: Riff Raff (located on Grove Stage)

Everything old is new again. Riff Raff is taking the wasteland by storm and filling the Blood Yard with the '80s rock sounds you know and love. From fan favorites to classics with a twist, this Hair is here to Scare.

New Show: The Ruckus (located on Grove Stage)

In the Blood Yard, at the end of the world, watch our band of survivors dance for their lives. Featuring some of the best music of the Before Times, Pvris, Noga Erez, Billie Eilish, and more. May they all Rest in Peace.

That’s SEVEN new attractions coming to Haunt this season. I’m surprised at the number of shows this year; I don’t think we’ve ever seen this show-heavy of a lineup in the 20 years KD has done Haunt.

Interesting that they're going for a sort of sideshow variety show in Cleaver Brothers, with three different acts rotating throughout the night. Looks like they'll have a brass band, acrobatics of some kind, and an accordion-playing barker. If the park is hurting for staff, this act might be a clever way to stretch the Haunt experience for guests, and it's cool that they've integrated it with Cleaver Brothers... as long as the stage is far enough away from the action that it doesn't distract from the scares. The Blood Drums stage they had set up right in the middle of the scare zone in 2019 killed the atmosphere whenever a show performed.

With the park hinting earlier about one new set for Cleaver Brothers Carnival scare zone and three new show acts performing in the same area, makes me wonder if the whole zone received a makeover for 2021.

Some other things of note:

1. It looks like Pumpkin Eater has been moved outside of the Arbor to Old Virginia.

2. Blood Reign has a new storyline for this season, which means that the show will likely be different from 2019. There is also only one showing this year instead of five.

3. As already noted by other members, the mazes Blackout, Lockdown, and Tollway Terror are no longer. For scare zones, Ironworx, The Yard, and Necropolis are all gone.

The Arbor is technically in Old Virginia, so are you sure they aren't just generalizing the location on the website?

It’s possible, but they usually differentiate between Old Virginia and The Arbor on the website each year. Also, I think it would be odd not to have anything in Necropolis’ spot, as that’s such a central location during Haunt. I wish the zone was placed on the map so we can know for sure!

Looks like Pumpkin Eater is in Old Virginia this year (this answers your question, @Mushroom)… AND with there being a lot of new props, it seems that the zone is getting a major overhaul this season.

Wow, I definitely didn't see that coming. I'll be a little sad if they don't use the Arbor though - the atmospherics, with all the lights and the suspended jack o'lanterns, were beautiful in 2019.

I also sort of wonder why they didn't just decide to market this as a totally new scare zone this year, considering nearly everything about it, from the set pieces to the location, is new this year.

My guess is that we’ll end up seeing a lot of those same elements this year intertwined with the new props. It’s not Pumpkin Eater without pumpkins!

If they do it right, this zone could have similar vibes to The Harvest scare zone that was at the park in the early 2010s. I’d love to see the orange lights and the lit-up pumpkins hanging over Old VA.

In addition to the Old Virginia props mentioned above, props are now being setup in Grimm Woods/old DA area as well.

Visible from Grizzly are 3 structures towards the end of the trail (in the area the T-Rex's used to occupy). The smallest structure looks like something scare actors would jump from. The second largest is a small shed. And the third is fairly elaborate, and quite large house; possibly the witch's cottage.

I believe the first part of the sneak peek is taken from the inside of the witch’s cottage, as I recognize the stained glass, so I’m not surprised at all that it’s being used for GrimmWoods.

That house has had one heck of a history through Haunt… first Feary Tales, then Pumpkin Eater, and now GrimmWoods!

Saw a bunch of what appeared to be the little shed boxes scare actors use on the midways off the side of TT earlier today, though still didn't see any more obvious transformations - guessing they're building it all backstage then will haul it in last-minute through the off days in the middle of the week.

The new Uprising scare zone, in Safari Village, has been setup. It starts at the ball toss just across from Hungry Hippo, and winds its way past Scrambler; so a fairly long zone.

And in prep for GrimmWoods, all merchandise has been removed from Grizzly Gulch, with walls constructed, forming a corridor. -Though it would have been a good opportunity for KD to sell some Grimm-inspired merchandise (taking a page from the Disney and Universal book where every major attraction needs its own gift shop on the way out), I wonder if this was done for: 1) Potential theft concerns, on days where the queue line stretches back to the store, and 2) Possibly use the space as a mini scare zone, setting the mood for the maze(?)

My guess is that another reason they gutted the Grizzly store so early is so they could get a head start on St. Nick’s Pics for WinterFest.

Sooo Uprising is just... Necropolis?

Don’t forget The Yard! 😂

Also, Cleaver Brother’s Carnival has all new mannequins in each of those red and white boxes, which have been painted to look a lot older and scratched up. It seems that Cleaver is getting an overhaul, too!
