Counterpoint to the "at least Kings Dominion had a few new things" argument:

Howl-O-Scream had a big year last year (three new houses) and Haunt only gave us a single house renovation. I firmly believe that both events NEED new houses EVERY year, but I can see how a solid case could be made saying that Kings Dominion's new-house-need was far more dire than Busch Gardens Williamsburg's...

Yeah, CF screwed the pooch chainwide with no new mazes at all, but the scare zone lineup has been really impressive across the board.

Keep in mind next year is Haunt’s 20th anniversary. I’ll be VERY surprised if we don’t get at least one new house. I’ve always wanted to see an old house make a comeback, but I’m sure the park can’t go wrong as long as there’s a new house. They’re really good at celebrating anniversaries (KD’s 40th Anniversary was a roaring success, Haunt’s 10th Anniversary brought the Overlord and Doll Factory, two giant staples of Haunt). I’m speculating a bit here, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the new storyline with Queen Majesty is setting up something even bigger for 2020.

The NEW SCARE ZONE: Pumpkin Eater
Is located in the old dinosaur alive correct?

If done right this really could be a main attraction and just as good if not better then a house..
Definitely would need allot of staffing in there if this is where it is..

I doubt it's back in the Dinos Alive area.

That said, I figured I'd look at the KD Haunt map on the official website and figure out the location conclusively that way... But if we believe the KD Haunt site, Pumpkin Eater is actually located outside of park property adjacent to Kings Dominion #2...

Hopefully someone from KD is reading this... ?

Didnt think about looking at the map. :)
I just read (woods and winding road)under its description and figured it was there. Guess that's too big to put something in...especially for staffing???.hmmm

Pumpkin Eater is located in the Arbor where The Lair was located last season.

So it looks like a big focus for Haunt this year is to spruce up parts of the park that have been neglected in recent years with all new decor! Take a look at the link below for a sneak peek!

Can’t wait to see everything that’s been done!

Yeah, uh, I can appreciate that someone obviously put some effort into all that, but honestly if you had told me you had taken these pictures at the local Michael's or Hobby Lobby, I'd totally believe you.

This is actually interesting. Looks like the park is putting a lot of effort into decorating elements of the park that are usually overlooked, like restaurants and shops, with a festive “fall” vibe. Reminds me of what BGW used to do during the golden era of HOS where every aspect of the park was dressed up to celebrate the season.

I especially like the Día de los Muertos decorations going in and around Border Burrito- a really nice touch.

I hope so - since there are now two fewer mazes than a couple years ago... Zombie High is now gone, as is Medieval Macabre-aka-Maze of Madness-aka-Urgent Scare -- I can't remember if 2017 was the last year for that one, or was it 2016?

Was just there today and there were lots of haunt decorations up but I wasn't able to get pictures

Most of the props are same in previous years, but perhaps Cornstalkers will be renamed to "der KornStängels" since the German barrels are still there from the German food pavilion that was set up a couple months ago...

Those were left there on purpose- it was decided that they, along with a few other Grand Carnivale props, would be left up for the rest of the main season as part of the ongoing effort to restore the "international" theme to International Street.

The house inside the arbor definitely looks different- I'm interested in how the rest of the scare zone will come together. That tunnel provides a really unique opportunity for creative scares, so I'm excited that we'll get to see something different from The Lair. Hopefully they touch up the side of that house where the bare door is.

I was at the park today for a bit and noticed there were coffins scattered across Necropolis...

Could we see a reVAMP of this Zone soon? ?

Also, more props were put down for Masquerade. The rusty looking set pieces from Grand Carnivale have made a comeback. Also, two more portraits have appeared... who can name them first?
